Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Getting in the shower shortly. A good toothbrushing to follow. I feel like I could ride today, but I'll hold off for s few, anyway. It would be truly amazing if this is the end of it.

Big words spoken from the hammock, after two days and nights of sleep. Actually standing up is a different kettle of fish. I managed to shower, brush my teeth and refill my coffee cup before racing back to the prone position.
But it's beginning to look like I'll survive this.

Fake recovery ride done. I was able to ride and voice chat with a couple of friends so the ride went quickly. I am still surprised that Zwift does not support voice chat in game, it really makes a big difference. We used Discord for voice chat.

2 hour ride with 20+ riders at a casual pace. Got to chat with some people I'd never met and had a fun time. This is the second Sunday that club has done this kind of ride and I hope they keep it going. It's perfect for a Sunday for me. The other club which I did Sunday rides with for 20 years became a sprint-fest.

It’s been a long winter, but Spring is only seven weeks away.

Are you near a big lake? What’s the name, let’s see if I remember it.

Maybe even sooner if Phil does not see his shadow on Wednesday.

I did 3 things to get rid of the click/creak in the Litespeed. First, I tightened the crank bolts - this should do it, till the LBS replaces the BB. Next, I swapped the old PD-7401 pedals for Look KEOs, which changes not only the pedals but also the shoes. Finally, I tightened all the chainring bolts, which all moved about 1/16 turn. First half of the ride, no click/creak. But it came back in the last 1/3. Totally in sync with pedaling. I'm thinking the problem might be those alloy chainring bolts. I reused the ones from the 7410 crankset I bought, which may have been a mistake. They looked fine, though, and no problems tightening them down. Maybe I'll just swap them for steel, like I did the last ones. at 90kg, I'm probably the last guy who should be a Weight Weenie.

Mirabella or whatever it’s called, with the single 250’ rig?

I watched a special on Phil today on TWC. The little charlatan was being groomed before they put him in his “hole” before his appearance.

Sunset Update

Now after 6:00 p.m. At 6:50 you could still see a glow on the western horizon.
