Hello from Melbourne Australia
Hi all,
Looks like a great forum, thanks for having me.
I'm looking for a couple hybrid bikes for me and the wife to do some light trails and maybe 5k city commute for me.
I don't really want to spend more than 1000 AUD each plus accessories.
Are there any "must haves" when buying a new bike? The only thing I've heard is to try and get hydrolic disc breaks not mechanical - I wouldn't even know the difference.
Any buying tips advice for a newbie?
Cheers

From my experience, frame size and saddle choice (positioning) goes a long way in how comfortable you are riding long distances.

Other than hydraulic discs getting your bikes professionally fit by a bike fitter will make sure you will be efficient and not create unnecessary injuries or strains. You will also need an under the seat bag with:
spare tube
patch kit
tire irons
multitool
CO2 inflator and CO2 cartridges
Watch several YouTube videos on fixing a flat, removing a tire and wheel and then practice in the garage how to use the tools and inflate a tire. Welcome
