Sugino
I have an old Takara (probably from the 80's), and I am converting it to a fixie. The problem I ran into is the chain ring and the cog don't line up right because I am using the original Sugino bottom bracket, which has a spindle that is nearly 7" long! So my question to you is this:
Will any Sugino bb replace my original Sugino bb, or are there different sizes?
Thanks in advance!

Sugino makes a really wide range of cartridge bottom brackets and they are a good value... this could also be replaced with a Shimano cartridge bb.... or another shorter spindle could be sourced / ordered.
Inches don't mean a thing when it comes to bb measurements.
Let us know what Sugino crank you are using... there are resources that can determine what bb to use for certain chain lines.

Well, here is a picture of the current drivetrain:
I do not know which Sugino BB it is, and wont be able to see until tomorrow (I am keeping the bike locked up at my grandma's house because there is no room for it here at my house). All I DO know is that the Takara came with a Sugino Maxy crankset. Not sure if that helps (I am pretty sure it doesn't)
NOTE: The following picture was taken before the conversion started.

Alright. I read the stuff stamped on the bb, and it reads: Japan Sugino 137 x 24T. What on Earth does that mean? What bb can I replace it with? Thanks.
EDIT***
I have a pretty good feeling that this one will be the best replacement.

1.37 by 24 is the bottom bracket threading which is standard ISO / British.
The shell should be 68 mm across.
The current spindle is for a road double and is too wide for a single gear application so a new spindle or cartridge bb is needed.
It will need to be narrower than the existing spindle and should be in the 110-113 mm range.
The width of the spindle should be in the 110-113 mm range as would be the cartridge bb.

Well I have a single speed crankset on it as you can see from the pictures. The spindle is too long, and I need a shorter one so that the chain ring and cog line up.

just get a new bottom bracket like the man says.....it will be much easier to replace with a sealed bb than to track down a shorter spindle.
