Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I’ve had bikes that I wished someone would steal so I could get a new one.

We just booked a nice apartment for LA in May, mainly for Heidi's graduation. I do hope to rent a road bike and do some cycling. One barrier is we are renting pretty well into the city (Mid Wilshire) so I may have to navigate busy city streets to get to the good cycling areas. Luckly I have plenty of time to figure that out.

I don't live in the village, so it was a Madison County Sheriff job. The deputy seemed annoyed to be summoned.

Nice circular logic. If I keep the one I have, I don't need to replace it.

I did not. He did inform me that, if I wanted a copy of the crime report, I would have to contact the county and pay a fee.

Broken glass to get a bike, violent offender. Just my 2 cents.

My wife thinks I am dumb too.
So now go to the insurance Co. And claim the bike was stolen. The adjuster will say, "hmm no broken glass, no damage to the car. Did you not lock the car?" Claim denied.

When I first met my wife, We flew down to the OBX, I flew us down in a 172. Brought 2 surfboards flight kit, clothes. We stayed for a couple of days and I flew us back. Unfortunatly I got sick while we were down there, so after I dropped her off I went home and slept. I think I was in bed for like 3 days or something. Anyways, I felt better I made a plan with Tom Cruise to go back down to go surfing. Not that Tom Cruise. I go to my car and in my dismay, everything is gone. ipod, 2 surf boards (one was custom and the shaper was dead) my flight kit, head sets, clothes, wet suites a hat (who steals a hat?). Most importantly they stole my log book. Ohhhhh I was pissed that day. I broke a bunch of stuff in my rage. Filed a police report and never got anything back. Went to every pawn shop, searched neighborhoods. Made calls to surfers in OBX and Va Beach if they saw my boards to call me. I was out for blood.

Eventually, I calmed down, bought a new board, bought a new wet suite, bought a new head set, bought a new ipod, re built my log book. I never replaced that hat though.

Thats asking for it.

My above story my parents filed a claim and they received a check, which is how I replaced most things except the hat.

Doors were unlocked.

I never said I wasn’t a hypocrite.
