Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Prolly close to my heaviest.
See there?

Adulting properly now. Nicely done, and nicely doing.

That works. I would make sure your recovery time between sets is enough to get the work done.

Update from my friend regarding his bike theft. Apologies as it contains one censored word and might be treading on P&R:

Assigned detective was in court all day yesterday, off today and tomorrow, not back in until 3:00 Thursday PM. I’m told no one else can do a ******g thing, only the assigned detective. He has not responded to any emails or phone calls.
The bike is being moved between several properties in the same block according to my tracker.
Moral of the story: City of Phila is open for business (if your business is crime)

I told him that is ridiculous but unclear if there is much he can do about it short of going to the actual location of his bike which as we discussed is tempting but risky.

Sad.

Sucks, and I retract my previous statement. I would not go to the location of the bike if I was in Philly.

Question: Is the locations the bike is moving a particularly dangerous area? Could he go and just watch? I don’t know what good that would do but maybe get an idea of who actually took it. Cyclist, cat collector, hooligan, etc
Has he called the pawn shops in those areas to be on the look out? Has he checked facebook marketplace? I think you can put an add on there for BOLO, also craigslist.

Just my 2 cents.

If it isn't far I would at least go by there and look around. Don't have to confront anyone if it seems risky.

imagine the detective thinks this is petty vs grand theft. Stolen bike usually makes people think 50$ Huffy, not multi thousand dollar bike.

Ordered a Force AXS pull off groupset yesterday. I don’t have anything to put it on yet but there are several tempting options out there

Emonda SLR w. RSL bars for $2900
Time ADH w. Deda stem and Superzero bars $3000
new Cervelo soloist frameset (now with T47BB) $2700

decisions, decisions

He has a job nowhere near Philadelphia and so does not have time to do a stake-out. I think he has just about given up, and will try to get this settled via his homeowners insurance.

That's my best guess. It sucks. regardless.

I would hold off on the emonda, The new one will drop soon.

My vote would be the Time. Those bikes are timeless. They hold the essence of what a bike is. IMO.

Man if I had a Time shop in my area instead of a trek shop my garage would be filled with Fusia Time Bikes. Maybe one Blue one.

Where’s Indy when we need him. He has the whole backing of the rail road behind him. I elect him to get the bike back.

The time is used- could buy a new frame for 3K, the pink is gone now. There’s a guy selling an ADH 21, but it doesn’t have the integrated hoses and I think I would regret it, despite really digging the color

I was up to 240 in late 20s. Dropped to 165 in 2009 and hover around 175-180 now

Adulting doesn't suck, it just means you stay busier for a longer amount of time.

Thank heavens your inner adult doesn't tell you to sit on the couch, watch Netflix, smoke weed, and eat **** delivered by Door-dash. Weighing 300 pounds isn't adulting.
