$130.00 Grand Record.

Picked it up at the end of vacation. Bluemels, record hubs with mavic rims in 27'. Suntour mechs campy seatpost and b15 seat in excellent shape. I rode it up and down the block and it felt lovely but it was dark so tomorrow I'll go further. Oh yeah, check the crank.

That is sweet- and will only get sweeter with a little attention, no doubt! Great score.

Very nice! What are the brakes? Modolo, Dura Ace, ?
Was this the seller with the Mixte? Looked like a 76 Grand Jubile…a nice match for something in my queue!

Very nice find! Looks to be in great shape, needing little more than a bit of spit and polish.

That's a nice score. At first, I thought you got it at the coop. I would not have expected to find something that exotic in Peoria.

I've always been curious how well the Grand Record rides. I've had a few Le Champions, but find the GR to be more attractive. Perhaps it is the red/black, with less chrome. (I hate the look of chrome.)

It was from that seller. Turns out he is a young kid. His dad and he were not real knowledgeable but knew it was a nice "historic" bike.

It's real sporty with very quick handling. I found it in forest city Iowa.

Nice! You did buy it. It looks as good as it did in the ad. It also appears to be nicely outfitted, are you keeping it this way or do you have other plans?

Since you previously asked about it’s age, the nearest I can tell with the gold pin striping on the stays, it appears to me like gold was used on 75, 76 and 77 models. I believe 74 GRs with this color scheme had red pin striping on the stays. A close inspection of the catalogs seem to bear this out but catalogs schmatalogs, I can’t say for sure. My black and red GR has red pin striping on the stays and a patent 73 Campagnolo rear derailleur. Sorry about the awkward angle pic, bike is sitting in a tough area behind some other bikes but you get the idea.

I am not sure what I will do with this bike. Two years ago I would have thought it was too big for me.... It would fit 700c by 35s with fenders I'm sure. Maybe even under those fenders, which I love. I'd love to use the rear hub with a 700c rim. I have a dynamo hub waiting to be used that is black which might look good on this bike. The bike is also tall enough that I may be able to with drop bars and my arthritis. Although I always hope that and it never works out. Lastly I have a campy 144 crank with triplizer so I could go old school touring with half step and granny but I would use a front rack and no rear rack.

I had a Grand Record. Superb bike. An ideal bike for a retro Randonneur.

I always thought these were one of the more attractive bikes of the era!
Of course, I also put the Raleigh Pro on that list, so maybe I just have an attraction to the use of contrasting colors on head tubes and seat tube panels??
Still, that's an amazing find! I hope to see it on the road all cleaned up and sparkling!

That's why I didn't buy it. The OW was selling a very nice Motobecane Grand Jubilee mixte as well. Did you buy it as well?
