He encouraged my young son at the Velodrome and even loaned him a 650fixie for some training sessions there.
Another Jargon.
cockpit = not a rooster fight.
But, does it include the saddle? the shifters?
or just the perfect combo of stem/bar/hoods&levers/tape?
and don't forget those plugs...

You've chipped away ever so slightly at the batholith of my ignorance. Thanks!

"snake bite": (aka pinch flat)... a flat from too low of pressure and the compression from impacting road objects causes the two rim beads to "bite" two holes in the tube.

And there’s Shimano’s FFS, a 70s drivetrain innovation that never became widespread, thankfully:

Contact points - saddle, pedals, bars (sometimes includes bar tape and hoods, other people don't include them). Basically the parts of the bike you touch.

This is wonderful!
I have some to add.
TT - time trial, a cycling contest where riders end up regretting their life choices about 7 minutes into the ride and really really wish they had trained harder.
clunker - a bad bike in bad shape, or a somewhat decent bike in even worse shape. Occasionally an object of misplaced veneration by the cult of Narhay during their yearly rituals.
Klunker - an old school mountain bike built using the frame of a 1950s balloon tire cruiser and a mix of road bike, touring bike, and motorcycle parts. Not to be confused with the above entry.
Project bike - a bike in various stages of disassembly in your garage/shed/basement. Frequently in the way of tools or other bikes and also frequently untouched for several months or years except to move it around.
IPA - India Pale Ale, accumulates around project bikes for some reason.

Death fork...when ridden with before mentioned death stems...Ava, Modolo...can spark interesting anecdotes of dental surgeries...
portacatena-macarena the holes in dropouts that serve some purpose, if you can find the part, but is mostly used for designating that your frame probably doesn’t have braze ons...
half step plus granny... a chainring configuration designed to provide two options for hastening degeneration of cartilage around the knee.

In my experience, "death fork" refers specifically to the original forks on the first Lamberts/Viscounts. The fork crown was attached to the steerer tube in a woefully inadequate fashion, leading to separations of them at bad times (not that there is a good time for such an event). The death fork and the death stem were independent variables and they could and did, each by themselves, lead to the aforementioned dental surgery anecdotes. Using either one was taking your chances. Using both on the same bike, well, you might as well have just hit yourself in the teeth with a hammer and at least saved yourself some road rash.

It is at least an international means of death...somehow the English and US avoid blame here though...

Anybody mention kit yet? Another British usage, could mean the bits on your bike, or the bits in a bag hanging from your bike for anything for tyre repair to full camping gear.
Tiddly bits - stuff I braze on vintage frames so one can pretend to have a proper constructeur bike, but using British slang.

Shouldn't that be Twiddly Bits?
