Out by the Berkeley waterfront today. I love the diffuse late afternoon sun. As I was up by the horse track, someone on a fancy new Canyon carbon bike turned and said “Love your setup!” Very gratifying.
If you zoom into the top pic, you see the Bay Bridge on the left and Golden Gate on the right.

I was able to meet up with a friend and ride at White Rock Lake in Dallas. It was breezy with mid 70 temps . He's on his Rivendell Homer Hilsen and I'm in my Austro Daimler Puch Vent Noir II circa about 1981. Great to get out and about yesterday!

Just one photo from yesterday’s short ride—a 16-ish mile out & back up to Inspiration Point in Tilden Park/Berkeley Hills just in time before it got dark. On the way back, I stopped for this sunset photo of the bay. The majestic tree seems to dwarf the Golden Gate Bridge in the distance.

Love those SF Bay pics! noobinsf my wife used to ride a Univega Alpina all over that city in between the bridges. Hers had a unicrown fork though.
Even windier out today but still warm, so had to get out in it. As we say around here, wind wasn’t too bad, the 10% gradients blocked most of it. I had a few pitches into the teeth of it but got the best of it with some long stretches of 16 mph, gusting to 40 tailwind.
Wind was so loud here, if I was riding with anyone, we’d have to yell to hear each other.

Today's ride was a windy and adventurous one. I had to pick up my wife's car at Oakland Honda, so I made a ride out of it, despite winds steady around 20mph, and gusts about double that. I headed up the Berkeley Hills via Tunnel Road, before following the ridgeline south into Oakland before looping around Lake Merrit in downtown Oakland to finish off the riide. A little under 30 miles & 2200' of climbing all told
A view from the top of Tunnel Rd. This is a popular local climb of about 4 curvy miles with a mild grade.
A behind-the-bars shot in the midst of the redwoods. You had to pick your spots in between gusts of wind to ride without hands today.
Here the redwoods helped block the wind.
A nice little trail into Joaquin Miller Park viewed from Skyline Rd.
The winds left a lot of debris on the road. You had to keep your eyes out in case there was a fallen branch around a corner...or a massive tree!
A view coming down Butters in Oakland.
Lake Merritt, Oakland
Finally, a couple closer shots of the mystery machine.

I drove down to Southern California to visit family. Along the way, I stopped in San Luis Obispo and took a short, ~15-mile out & back to Avila Beach.

Was a nice day and windy. I did a few laps around WR lake and some of the Lakewood hills. Probably saw you both as I ride counter clockwise, opposite most riders. Always nice to see the collection of bikes and riders, runners, skaters, boarders, and walkers around the lake.

That bike looks like a nice choice just needing for toe clip pedals.

^@northbend Looks cold, too, but at least you have some blue skies, yo! Out of curiosity, what are your snow tire options and considerations? My snow cycling experience is extremely limited.

Finally got a decent ride. The usual but decided to find something else to take a picture of. Well had to include the river. 22+miles

The mound under the monument contains over 5000 unknown solders.
As mentioned, several posts ago, the brick wall on the right is composed of the bricks from the houses and businesses Burnside destroyed with cannon on the other side of the river along with general destruction after taking the town before losing at Maryes Heights in 1862. Down the street is the memorial to Mary Washington, George Washington's mother. It is one of the first projects by the Daughters of the Americal Revolution (DAR). GW grew up here. Interesting that this is the first battle that Lincoln gave the orders to attack the citizens.

Another not so great riding day but I will take it after nearly 90 in a row. The pics will pretty much say it all.

I'm not one to normally ride in the snow. Yesterday, was an exception (trying to avoid cabin fever) and I could only handle it for about an hour. Too cold for me. The bike wears some 10 year old Schwalbe Racing Ralphs. Nice fast tire in the dirt anyways...

Having done a lot of snow riding I use cheap knobby's mostly snow is hard on tires and you don't get much or any better performance with expensive snow Tires. For suggestions I would go with WTB wilderness or Kenda Claws front and rear specific tend to help a lot in the snow.

On my 65-80 lb chrome cruiser, I've estimated the "workout quality factor" to be about 2.5 x my racer. Even with the light wheels and 75 psi tires.

Today's Mt. Fuji from Yokohama, same as New Year's day.
Beautiful sky and Mountain
Tokuonji temple, founded 1099.
The left building is lighter than right one.
Left, the main building had been done last year.
There are so many Buddhism temples in Japan.
But to see a newly built temple is very rare.
I haven't seen one before this temple.

Still cold with snow and ice a lot of snow the past few weeks there was a bit of brake in the weather with this afternoon some dry pavement and dirt still a lot of packed snow, ice and mud also. So I took the SS out for a short ride. Was snowing again by the time I got back home. I'm really starting to get tired of snow every Sunday for the past 2 months.
The bike path is still pretty much a no go.

Thanks for posting the shot of the temple! I for one hope you share more pics here of your local rides. Although I visited Japan at least a dozen times during my Navy days, my short stays were always transitional, and I never got the opportunity to get out and about as extensively as I'd have liked.

Japan's winter beauties.
Ume, ume plum.
This house is 50ft from the Mt. Fuji view point.
the sky is beautiful.
White ume is called hakubai.
Pink and red ume are called koubai.
Near my house
And suisen, narcissus.
Near my house.
I call this house suisen yashiki, narcissus house.

It was a very short attempt at riding today. I really just don't have anything this year that's able to handle the snow we've been getting this year. All shots taken in the driveway before the ride.
Thinking about digging a snow cave into this for a little weekend sleep out. It's been two winters since I've done that.
