I'd like to see your favorite two-tone paint schemes, of the kind where the head tube is painted in a different color from the rest of the frame. Here are a few examples I've pulled off the web, for starters, though I won't say I'm that I'm particularly enamored of these color choices.
If you wanted this kind of paint job on your bike, how would you go about it, short of having a professional bike painter do it? And, what colors would you chose?

Yes, Gazelle had a knack for the contrasting bands and headtube, IMO. Here's another one to go with 20grit's:

My powder coater was able to do a contrasting head tube on my '74 Norman Fay tourer. The lug shore lines aren't perfect, but I'm pleased with the result:
And here's my '74 Norman Fay road bike in it's original paint:
A few more from the UK:

I'm thinking I might have an auto body shop paint it one color, then I add the second one by rattlecan... but it bothers me I might end up putting bad paint over good.
Yes, please! This is all DIY, i.e. rattlecan?

Raleigh Alyeska. There's no seat tube band that matches the head tube. I like the brown and gold combo, though.

I recently had my Trek powdercoated in flat and gloss black. Gloss on the main tubes. Flat on the stays and head tube. Sorry the picture doesn't show the contrast very well.

I read where an approach to painting is to paint one color and then appropriately mask it for the second color with tape, then seal the edges of the tape with clear, brush or spray, to prevent bleeding under the tape. You can also tidy up around the lugs with lug linings using a ultra fine point paint pen.
Of course you can paint panels on the main tubes away from the lugs instead, which also looks quite sporty and is probably a bit less bother.

FIFY. You posted the web address of the page containing the picture, not the address of the picture.

DIY yes, rattlecan no.
I did the work at Southwest Frameworks. I chemically stripped the frame, media blasted it and
then used David's paint booth to do all the paintwork.
Here are a few Photo's of work in progress, adding white panel, masking, and photo with
decals applied.

That particular bike is in AZ, and I'm in MI at the moment. They are tubulars, can't remember which are on it. Look like they may be Gommitalia's. More pictures here:

I don't know if this qualifies as "classic," but it's old, at least (see "Definition" thread).
One problem with having a yellow bike with black contrasting paint and a stock brown saddle is that, if you add brown accoutrement, you start to enter the poop-and-pee territory, and you still have this oddball bit of black paint. Myself, I wouldn't choose this paint scheme. The darker headtube makes the frame look smaller and distorted to my eye. Anyway, here it is, with experimental bars and prototype mudflap.
Edit: BTW, it's a Motobecane-made Astra Tour de France. To me, at least with its stock Maes-bend bars, it captures the essence of the boom bike while still reflecting a little of the elegance of better bicycles. Except for the cheapy reflective stickers on the forks. And many other details.
Edit2: Oh, yeah, I set it up on big-big just for this photo. I promise.
