I'm completely flippin' stumped over this noise.
As some of you may know from previous posts, I have a clicking noise coming from - what I think - my BB.
We'll it's been serviced 4 times and to no avail.
X4
The last time my SPD connectors were glued in place when we thought that was the clicking. Uh-uh! Last bike ride I heard it again and the longer I went the worse it got.
So here's what I'm going to do tonight.
Check the pedals, seat post clamp and arms, crank arms, each chain link, and wheel spokes.
Can you guys think of anything I can check as well. Please. Before I go mad!

I remember this....sorry your still hassling with it. I have a few ideas though.
Maybe try different pedals? or put some flats on there for a while just to see?
Who serviced the BB? I had a similar problem that I couldn't resolve and I took it to a really good shop in town, and had their head mechanic work on it, and he fixed it by doing the exact things I had tried, greasing and re-installing the BB, and same with the pedals.
Another really silly option is...could it be the wire for the front DR hitting your foot or pedal? My wifes bike had this problem and it was impossible to figure out cuz sometimes she put her foot on the pedal in such a way it didn't contact the wire...but then I was able to actually SEE it happening as I rode along beside her.
Hope one of these might help!

I had it serviced at 2 shops. The second guy pulled the BB and checked it over. He said it was fine.
I will be check my pedals. I'm thinking of taking it to a parking lot and trying one foot at a time to see it I can hear it.
Thank you.

I had the same problem a couple of times, and here are all the things to check:
- handlebars (especially if they are 3 piece)
- saddle (at the rails)
- seatpost collar
- pedals
- pedal spindles *this was it for me*
- something loose inside the rim(s)
- crack in the frame/BB housing
Whatever you do, don't keep tightening the BB over and over, it will cause problems and then you will really have a noise to worry about.

My guess would also be the pedals. My right cleat attachment was loose and caused serious clicking.

I had a clicking noise that I thought was the cranks/BB, ended up being the cassette lockring was not tight enough.

A few weeks ago I noticed a clicking with almost every pedal stroke. Drove me nuts trying to figure out the source. Turns out the silver chain I was wearing was hitting my helmet buckle.
I have no suggestions other than those already posted. Good luck finding the cause.

I was riding a friend's bike with a rythmic clicking problem that turned out to be the crank arm just grazing the front derailleur cage.

M'kay. Here's what I'm going to do - and started to do last night. I'm going down the list I have for things to check and the first was my seat. I took it off, apart, and cleaned it thoroughly. There was a good bit of dirt in it and around the bolts and such. (Riding in the rain makes a huge mess in places you never thought could be reached.) So once I cleaned and put it back on, I took it out for a quick spin around the ‘hood.
No clicking!!!. My Lord have I solved it?
Sorry to be pessimistic but; Prolly not. I’ll get that bike out tonight and in the first 5 miles I betcha it’ll snap, crackle, and pop like never before. But so far it sounded quiet and fresh.

I recently had a clicking problem. I found that either coasting or standing up and pedaling the click disappeared. I contacted Thomson, the seatpost manufacturer who suggested that I disassemble and clean the seatpost bolts, grease, and tighten the bolts at the recommended 60 inch-lbs. So far no noise at all.

I had a nagging clicking sound on one of my rides for probably two months. After eliminating the cranks, pedals, bottom bracket and rear wheel as possible causes, I assumed it was the seatpost. So I disregarded it. But it got worse.
Discovered the true cause on Saturday: the drive-side rear dropout is separating from the chainstay. Ack!

Okay, here's a longshot. I was driven nearly crazy by a rhythmic clicking sound for the longest time, checked *everything* ( I thought) and finally discovered that it was the silly lockring on the front tire valve stem. It was loose, and every time the wheel rotated, it went "click" against the rim. The reason I mention this, is that it would explain why Substructure was hearing it on the road, and not on the trainer, where the front wheel would probably not be rotating.
Have you checked your valve stem lockrings?

I have no idea what's going on!!! I’m flipping out here.
The ride was smooth and noiseless. Then I hit a hard climb and it sounded like every single part of the bike was coming undone. I think I'm too obsessed with trying to find the noise that I’m actually tuned into every little thing. I heard my shoes, the chain, the rear der., my knees It was awful.
Tomorrow is a new day. I’m going out and enjoying God’s gift to ride. And I’m not going to fret over the bike unless it explodes. So there.

Sorry, I've been there. I started getting so frustrated with the noise that I couldn't even enjoy riding. I finally gave in and tried to ignore it (or embrace it). When I finally got mine solved, I started doing group rides where 2 guys have creaking bike! lol One guy has multiple creaks as he started riding at 310 lb... he's down to 210 now (in only 2 years) but the bike tells the tale with every stroke.

Dust in the seat tube? This actually happened on my Axis and wasn't readily noticable, but it produced creaking under certain conditions.
