Guessing this will sell fast even in this mildly distressed condition. It's one of the two years with the white splatter on black paint scheme, so that's probably not helping the presentation.

Deore hubs
Those deore m5__ hubs bring back traumatic memories, my bike came with them and every single cone was irreparably pitted, replacements are 10$ each and generic replacements won't work because of the seal design. The freehub bearing surface was also pitted, I took apart 5 identical or similar era/model hubs outside the local bike shop that sells used parts and all 5 were pitted.

This seems overpriced at $350. Can someone suggest a reasonable offer I could make to the seller?

Not My Bike - Too Distant For Me To Facilitate

Univega Touring Road Bike - $35 (Hampton)

Posted 2020-08-15 22:42

"Frame: XX-Large 67 mm (26.5") For those 6'3" and taller
Wheels: 27" x 1.25" HDK rims
Sakae Bars/Stem
12-Speed Shimano Components
Wired Computer included (speed, distance, cadence, and time)
This is an older model that was used regularly for a number of years. I can’t use it anymore due to back surgery a while back. Ready to ride but needs a good cleaning and possible tune up after being stored in the garage the past few years.
This bike is for a very tall person (6’3” to 6’8”) and would be a great starter bike.
Better to be ridden then collecting dust. $35 OBO.

bicycle frame material: alloy

bicycle type: road
condition: good
frame size: 67 cm XXL 26.5"
make / manufacturer: Univega
wheel size: 27 in"

Looks like whoever rode it was almost too tall. At least you don't have to worry about a stuck seatpost and stem.

Came across this in my size but the lowest she'll go is $350 plus whatever it costs to have my dad take it to a shop and have them pack it and ship it to me. Thoughts?
https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...0060921695020/

This is what a buddy of mine said, do you guys agree?
"I guess it depends on condition of the components. I think that may be 9 speed Ultegra or very early 10 speed and at that age those shifters are probably acting up or getting ready to. They're notorious for drying out and causing the pawls to not index correctly at which point there's not much you can do except replace them. You'd be replacing with like current generation... Sora? Which is not Ultegra, and would still cost a couple hundred to replace, and might require one or both derailleur replacement.

I'd be wary of buying that unless I could index both shifters and see how they feel. If they're not solidly clicking through each gear they're likely pretty worn out"

I I'm also not sure those shifters are ultegra because the cables come out of the sides unless 1998 ultegra did that.

Very nice Centurion Pro-Tour, original owner, clean, braze-on centerpulls version. Too small for me otherwise it'd be already home with me. I debated several days and decided to pass because of the size. Price is on the high side but not much and how often do they come up in this condition?

Here's a good, low-impact way to barter:

1. Ask him if he's flexible on the price. Very important to ask this so that you come off as a straight shooter and not some lowballer dirtbag. Its very important to ask this because it sets the tone. Its like it either opens the door or keeps it slammed shut. Ask the seller before you go to see it. That way you'll know how far to push the envelope and he has an opportunity to think about what he wants before he lets that bike go.

2. I would tell him that the price is about "$100 more than I'd like to pay". Come at him with an offer of $250 and try to wind up at no more than $275-$300.

The above method works 9/10 times for me. If I want the bike bad enough, I always go prepared to pay the asking price. If I get it for less, its just more gravy on the taters!

ROAD BIKE — Miyata - $275 (White Rock Lake)

I have a 1988 Miyata Seven Twelve Japanese road bike. All original (including oval Shimano BioPace chainrings!) in red/white color combination.

Size — Medium (I am 6’ and it’s too small for me)
700C wheelset
2x6 gearing —12 speed total
Tires are good; holding air.
Rear derailleur shifts well
*NEEDS* Front brake cable; front derailleur cable; rear wheel slight tru-up.

I have ridden this around my neighborhood and under load performed very well. This is a great opportunity to own a survivor Japanese bicycle that was at the top of the cycling food chain when new.

Looks like a no-brainer to me. Mavic deraileurs, those cool Weinmann center pulls, retrofriction shifters and (I think) Specialized Flag cranks. Even if there is some mortal defect in the frame the parts are more than worth the price to play.

Yep, Specialized crank. Modolo kronos brakes and Phil hubs too I think. Can't believe it's still posted

Always love to see '80s Mongoose MTB/ATBs, though I'd definitely want to check that Mountech to see if it's got issues.

Also those rims are absolutely sick. 26 inch versions of the famous Mongoose Pro Class BMX wheels which might sell for a good fraction of the price of the bike itself.

That's a real looker! Might be a little rusty, though. Too expensive for me, in any case.
