Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Feel Good Story

We were out on a club ride this morning in Illinois. We were literally out in the middle of nowhere. We rounded a turn and I heard a loud MEOW from a storm drain. We stopped and saw a tiny kitten trapped in the drain. Several of us pried the grate up and I was able to reach in and pull the kitty out. We rode about a mile to a friends farm with the kitty in a handlebar bag. They had friends visiting and they immediately fell in love with him and took him home. GREAT RIDE!

#102 A bicycle ride is never to be preceded, followed, or interrupted by a feline rescue operation, lest your average speed be determined a useless metric by which to measure your performance.

JK good job!

JK good job!
I did a century ride yesterday and today's ride was very hilly. My average speed sucked anyway!

What? a group of cyclists and none of you could slip through the storm drain? someone's been straying from their diet.

in all seriousness,

It's nice you saved the trapped cat, but hopefully the new owners will keep the cat inside. Do some research on the devestation that house cats cause on wild birds and other animal populations, it's shocking.

I have three cats; they are my family. Hearing stories like this are indeed heartwarming. You have some good Karma coming your way.
