Looking for a Waterproof bike cover that still lets me lock my bike
So, during the pandemic, I’m locked down at a place that doesn’t have a garage or much space to hold my new bike and will need to secure it outside. But I’m worried about what the weather might do to it. Is there a cover people could recommend that does the job but still allows me to lock it up against a bike rack?

I have the Electra cover below. You can place locks of your choice on the bike, put the cover on and then a lock through the 'lock holes' and rack. I bought mine from REI but I'd presume that it's available from many other sources.
Good luck.

I guess you can't comprehend the 10th to the 15th word in their sentence, all in the name of what I suppose you think is funny.
MAK posted a decent looking bike cover that looks quite promising. I do use bike covers but I purchased mine in Japan, so not easily gotten in America. They work well enough but the Electra one looks better. Good luck with finding something that fits your needs. Keep safe.

Locking the bike isn't hard. You'll need something solid to lock it to, and if you're going to leave it outside for long periods of time, get a 6-8' logging chain with a darn good lock.
You can cut holes in something like https://www.universalcycles.com/shop...ls.php?id=7963 for the chain to thread through. With luck you won't have high winds to rip the cover off. I don't see why you need car and bike rack to use https://www.bikeman.com/AR8809.html; lock the bike up, put the cover over the top, and snug down the straps.

Waterproof covers have the disadvantage of trapping moisture, which can sometimes cause more damage that would occur with an uncovered bike. Whatever you do, consider spraying all the vulnerable surfaces (seatpost/frame interface, stem/frame interface, etc., but not brakes and rims, of course) with WD-40.

Depending on your locale, UV light may cause just as much damage as water or humidity. Can you put up a small plastic shed into which your bike can fit and be locked?

Humidity can really cause some damage to a bike so try and keep it indoors whenever possible. If really desperate try the shed idea and use some way of removing moisture and still lock it in the shed.
