Italy offering incentive for bicycle purchases

60% of value up to 500 Euros. Only for those who live in the higher population areas though because the intent is to reduce traffic. Includes E-bikes.

I wish more major cities offered something like this. It's good for all parties involved.

Don't know if you have been to any of the larger cities in Italy but those would be the last place in the world I would ride a bike in unless I was riding away from the center of town. Not too worried about the cars as much as the scooters. They ride around like a bunch of swarming ants. In Naples, our tour bus almost ran into numerous scooters cutting in front of it.It was the same in just about every city we visited.

I lived near Naples for a number of years and was very comfortable riding in city traffic. It looks like chaos; however there are definite, though unwritten, rules that govern the pattern. Because cyclists were expected (along with a host of other non-motored participants), I felt that there was a more focused awareness amongst drivers. Of course, those were the days before cell phones.
