Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Got my new bike!!!

Finally got my 2002 Bianchi Vigorelli from SuperGo. Now I just wish the weather in Northern Virginia would cooperate so I could ride it.

A few pics:

I'm digging the color; it's got a nice metallic flake in the paint.

My first steel road bike.

Already have my new Cateye Mity3 wired up.

Not quite sure what they wer thinking when they designed this thing, but maybe it's comfortable, since it sure isn't pretty. You can also see my old school Blackburn Pro Cages (38g each). I wanted to get new ones but found that Blackburn stopped making them. Oh well, I'll just use my 10 year old cages.

And ever since it was called Ultegra 600 and had the yellow to green color blocks I've wanted an Ultegra bike. I thought this was a cool pic.

Also psyched to have a nice wheelset (Mavic Cosmos).

Thanks. Yes, it is a Cosmos wheel set. They came stock on the bike, but I think you can get them for $300.

Check this link for some prices: Mavic Cosmos at qbike

LOL! I'm itching to go, but I know I'll be angry when it comes back all dirty. Thanks for the compliments.

One more encouragement to go riding, regardless of the rain. Cleaning your macchina makes for good 'bonding'.

Thanks! Delivered to my door it cost $1168. $1068 for the bike, $50 for shipping, $40 for assembly and $10 for the box.

Not quite sure, I'd say very close to 20. I need to get a scale.

No problem, just showing off a bit.

You might want to call, I never got a reply from my e-mail, but that might have been because I eventually called and ordered.

I have to agree that you got a great bike at a great price! Are these Bianchi's made in NA, Asia or Italy?

Still, call me traditional, but a Bianchi is not a Bianchi unless it's in Celeste Green

Only got to ride it a bit, between the weather in Northern Virginia and work, I've barely had a chance to get outside, let alone ride. I'll be out of town the next two weekends as well. It's killing me just having it sit there in my living room. Soon, very soon. On the very short ride (~5 miles) I did take, I found I need to adjust the front derailluer, pedal tension and cleat position, and seat post height. I'm thinking of taking it down to the LBS and having them help me out with getting the fit right. I need to buy some stuff for my other bikes anyway, so hopefully they won't think I'm freeloading since I didn't buy the bike there. The frame fells great and it accelerates and rides nicely. The STI levers are going to take some getting used to, since I keep wanting to reach for the downtube. I guess it's kind of like driving an automatic car where I will inevitibly pound the brake with my left foot, thinking I'm going for the clutch. I'll get back to you guys with a ride report ASAP.

Hehe...I know you mean about Celeste...it's got it on the tires though. This model is made in Asia (Taiwan I think). I think only the Veloce (with Campy components) is made in Italy. It would have been nice to get a true Italian bike, but the price was just too good to pass up.
