Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I get enough abuse as it is, I don't want any more. Just say no. Not gonna do it. Wouldn't be prudent.

You all are referring to the subforum General Cycling at this website?

I looked in there a couple times recently and it looked pretty boring to me. Shrugs.

And some are absolutely bonkers but boring because they are going back over well-trodden ground.

But then there's this one,
  • $500 instead of $850
  • has a spare wheelset
  • comes with a fluid trainer (useless to me, but...)
  • probably lighter
  • won't need to cut the seattube
  • has the same crabon fabric as my crabon hardtail (if I'm gonna have two plastic bikes they might as well match)
Unfortunately
  • not Italian
  • 5 or 6 years older
  • maybe less aero except the fork (which probably doesn't matter to me much as a hammerhead ride for me is 16.4mph avg on a good day )

In the ER yesterday afternoon, a kid came in who had shot himself in the eye with a BB gun. “You‘ll shoot your eye out, kid” is not a joke.

I imagine many of us who had bb guns BITD experienced getting hit in the face with a bb from shooting at something too close and too hard.

I was thinking it jammed on him and he looked into the barrel, squeezed the trigger and blammo

but yeah I have fond memories of BBs ricocheting off wood panel walls of small bedrooms

The story we overheard was that the gun dropped on the ground and fired. I don’t know if that’s the truth, but that’s the story that mom told the ER people.

A valid argument can be made for both bikes. I’ve always admired both brands. If you are picking between these two, go with the one that excites you more.
