Two Zeus brake questions

All, I'm sadly beginning to prep a lovely bike for sale. I'd like it to be ready to go. It has Zeus brakes circa 1974. I need hoods and cable binder bolts. Any help on where to acquire repop hoods and compatible bolts?

Thx,

Ron

Looks like mod. 2001 side pulls. The lever body is similar to Campagnolo/Modolo/SunTour Superbe levers, but not exactly the same. I've used reproduction Campagnolo-style hoods on Zeus levers, and they work. Gum rubber ones tend to only last a couple years before they start to tear from the size difference. The longest lasting ones I've found are the synthetic A'me "anatomic" Modolo-copy hoods:

Re: the cable anchor bolts. I suspect you could use a short, pan-head Allen bolt and acorn nut to serve as the cable anchor.

I think those brakes are the 2001 model and they use a bolt with a cross-hole in the shank.

In a pinch you could wrap the cable anti-clockwise around such a screw and tighten the nut & washer on it, but that's a 5 miles from home on Sunday evening and it's starting to rain expedient.

You're right. It had been a while since I'd taken them apart. It's possible that a drilled anchor bolt from some other brake might work. I just tried one from a Dia-Compe side pull, and it almost fit. A little judicious filing could make it work.

Yes, cross drilled, thanks. I could drill the holes here at work, might be my best solution. Not gonna wrap the cable though, I'm selling it and want it done as right as I can. Thx.

16Victor-

Reciclone in Spain makes excellent, branded copies of Zeus hoods:
