Centurion Ironman Dave Scott
I have someone wanting to trade this Centurion Ironman for my 1946 Schwinn BFG. Centurion is full Shimano 600, but does have biopace rings. Those are easy to swap out tho. Can anyone tell what year the Centurion is by the paint scheme? Good deal? I value the Schwinn at ~$300

I'm a big fan of Centurions. I have an '85 Ironman myself and I absolutely love it!. If the Ironman was my size I would make the trade for sure. It would be much more fun to ride in my opinion. Those old balloon tire bikes take a lot of work to pedal around!

i think you may be undervaluing the schwinn but the market for them is small.. the klunker crowd would love it
the ironman looks to be in good shape and as other have said if it's your size you should consider the trade if you are looking for a road bike. personally i'd rather klunk out the schwinn

+1, The Schwinn is nice for a niche buyer. You'd know if that were you. The Ironman is a very nice bike and looks to be in fantastic condition. I'd make that trade in a heartbeat. Seems like a deal in which everyone will be happy.

The only cruisers I ever ride are my Spaceliners and Flightliners. I’ll never ride the Schwinn. It would just be wall art. The Centurion I will ride from time to time. I picked up a Fuji Touring Series IV the other day that most of my riding will be on. I just wanted to make sure the Centurion was a good bike.

I’ll probably go ahead and do the trade. The Schwinn will just hang in the garage similar to how the owner of the Centurion just has it hanging in his garage. If we swap then both bikes will get a new lease on life.

Did the trade today. Bike is every bit as nice as I expected it to be and then some. Needs a new tube and pedals is all. I live in a hard market for bikes. Old cruisers are literally everywhere, and therefore don’t bring much. Nice quality vintage road bikes in my size are much harder to come by, so I’m happy with my trade. He also basically gave me a Puch Cavalier on the deal that’s got a bunch of nice parts.
As for pickers, I tried to get them to come peruse through my warehouses of antiques but they didn’t seem interested/already had a full schedule. I think much of what goes on with that show is based more in theatrics than reality lol.
