Interchangeability of pedal body covers for PD-7800 and PD-6610, PD-5600, PD-R540

The Shimano pedal body covers for PD-7800 pedals and PD-6610, PD-5600, PD-R540 pedals look very similar. Will the pedal body covers for the latter work on PD-7800 pedals?

Have you ever tried, or compared the pedal body covers side by side? I found a much lower price for the PD-6610, PD-5600, PD-R540 pedal body covers and would love to use them if possible.

I have a spare set of the Ultegra level covers in my hands. I would be more than happy to take pictures or measurements for you. I don’t have any Dura Ace pedals on hand, only Ultegra

Are these the pedal covers you have? If so, I would be grateful if you would take measurements. I think the most important measurements would be among the four parts on the bottom of the covers that connect to the pedals.

Thank you for the pictures, jiangshi.

It appears that the covers are interchangeable. I found a very low price for the PD-6610, PD-5600, PD-R540 covers (which can be returned), so I'm going to buy some and see whether they'll work on my PD-7800 pedals. The worst case is that I have to pay a few dollars for return postage.

I think the curve is slightly different. I held my cover up to the pictures in your link to compare. Good Luck

I agree about the curve. I hope it won't matter.

I installed a pedal body cover for PD-6610, PD-5600, PD-R540 pedals on a PD-7800 pedal. The pins on the bottom of the cover are in the right places, but there is some extra material on the bottom of the cover that prevents the smaller pins from going fully into the holes. Perhaps I could remove that extra material, but I'd rather pay the extra $1.80 per cover ($4.79 vs. $2.99) for the covers made for the PD-7800 pedals. This cover could work temporarily on a PD-7800 pedal, but it is not interchangeable with the cover made for PD-7800.

The PD-7800 covers seem to be available only on eBay for substantially more than $4.79 each (I see them at https://www.amaincycling.com/shimano...aqsqyaquqzwdwz for $4.79 but was told they don't expect to receive any more stock), so I'd like to use the less-expensive covers for PD-6610, PD-5600, PD-R540 pedals. After installing the latter onto my PD-7800 pedals I'm no longer sure that removing the extra material on the bottom would let the smaller pins snap into the holes. I think there are subtle differences between the covers that I can't observe. I will write to Shimano and ask about this. Another possibility would be to use the less-expensive covers without the small pins snapping into place.
