A Fool and a Horse

During a test ride this afternoon mrs non-fixie thought it a good idea to check on her horse, which she keeps nearby these days.

While she was doing whatever it was that needed doing, I was left with my bike and the horse, and decided to grab the opportunity for a nice drive side pic of the both of them. Which wasn't easy, as our mr OK Juster Dandy wasn't familiar with the concept - and the importance - of drive-side pictures.

"WTF is that thing?" (note the ears). It is a bicycle, young man. Now, if you would kindly turn around ...

"This OK?" No, no, no.

"How about this, then?" Better. Much better.

I checked, and it seems that would indeed be the port side. Interesting that I would need a bike forum to get me straightened on horse riding.

Beautiful horse.
What breed?

Had an Arabian mare as a teenager. I guess she was true to breed. Ornery, but liked her oats.

Liked to kick off her shoes but didn’t have hooves hard enough to go without.

PITA looking back on it.

It looks like it might be time for the farrier.

I miss horses. Probably since I was a preschooler I’ve always loved dogs and horses.

One of our premier rail trails is only a couple miles from our farm. My wife takes a horse over there for a long ride and I go along with a mtn bike. If I go first the horses are more comfortable crossing the narrow bridge. If I speed up they do too. If I slow down they do too. I swear they think I’m another horse. Not scared but comforted.

Either way, not C&V.
Thanks for posting -- this takes me back to when my sons and my wife took horse riding lessons.

they usually place them on the medial side of the mount side rear fetlock

tatoo on inner lip not the real number - that is only for inventory control purposes

Belgian "Drafting" Check Out Eddy

The whole peloton is drafting off of that draft horse or draught horse. Doesn't look quite big enough to be a Clydesdale! Hahaha! A Belgian mare perhaps? Send the domestiques off of the front to clear away "road apples"!
