Funny, I haven't owned a fixie for a while now, and I'm starting to think about one again... First, though - I need to get my True North roadie delivered and set it up. Hugh has been awesome to deal with so far. I highly recommend him if you decide to go custom. Also, he's economical. S3 frame + fork for $1650. Waterford wants $2k US for that sort of thing.

IF you don't have iPhone with GPS, don't even think about go there, because otherwise you'll lost your path, too many forking ways.

Your vid doesn't show the falls at the end! Also, it's not that hard to find your way... you pretty much just have to follow the lake! Looks like it was a fun ride

^^^ Funny, I did the ride ( to and fro ) aug 7th and encountered that same bridge. As there were workers on it I detoured south to find another no crossing and walked through it over a stream. A challenge in cleats...but there was a johnny on the spot that came in handy as I had to drop the kids off at the pool.

Since you guys stripped down I suggest spandex & lycra next time round.

I did the hairshirt this summer and super strongly recommend anyone thinking about riding to Niagara follow the route we took out. Quiet country roads, very few cars, beautiful scenery and rolling hills, one of the best rides of my life. I think the cue sheet is available for download off the website.

Yeah, I skimmed it at Chapters the other day. Kind of a bummer, it really does pay to have friends in high places.

Not sure where else to post this - forgive me if it is the wrong spot (i found the best archival info on the Toronto Fixed Threads). If I want to get a bike refinished in Toronto, and don't want to pay the $350 Velocolour wants, where should I go? The threads about Spectrum and Jet Kote are very uneven, but I am willing to listen to advice regarding them or alternatives. I have three bikes, all threaded steerer tubes, that I need to get done, so I would like to find someone who wont eff them up.

TIA

John

How do you want them refinished? Spectrum and Jet Kote are powder coaters. Spectrum is paint. A lot of it depends upon what colour you want and effect. I've known people who have brought their bike in to be sprayed at an auto place. They wanted a basic colour and when the place was spraying a car, they just added the bike.

I've heard good and bad about Jetkote, but Keith (CavernMech) recommended them to me, and that's a pretty good recommendation.

You can take a look at the bikes that I have had done at Jet-Kote anytime you like, I am downtown. I will probably talk to an auto body shop the next that I need a bike frame painted; powdercoating is nice and durable but goes on kinda thick so some of the details are lost. If you have regular ol' frame, it is fine. I talked to a guy up on Symington last year and he quoted me $100 for a simple gloss black paint job with a clearcoat.

You'll not find one hanging on a peg anywhere I don't think around here., but here's Bianchi's distributor to find out who, if anyone, has got one. info@eurocycle.ca
They'll more than likely order you one if you HAVE to have that frame.
..and sometimes you just HAVE to have it, just 'cuz it's a bike love thang.

For those that raced the Guelph Cross today, is the course normally that difficult? It was my first race, and I had some issues with the downhill corners.

Ooogh, wiped out today. Damn slipperiness. I took all the damage instead of the bike. Nasty patch of skin gone on the right arm, bruised hip. Helmet saved my head from looking the same as my arm (and now the Giro logo's kind of rubbed off haha).

The weather's getting nastier. Be careful out there guys!

Hey guys,

It's been a while since I posted here. Good to see the Toronto Fixed thread is still going strong.

I figured one of you would know if Parts Unknown in kensington is still around? Same location-last time I was there (2-3years ago) he was getting hassled by his neighbours Looking for some used parts, and George always seemed to have what I needed. Cheers, and ride safe.

Yeah, that's what I thought. Too bad, I liked that place. Anywhere else around that is similar? I'm looking for a 26.8 seatpost that looks a bit oldschool.
