those who have used it or know people have had: what do you think of it? is it hard to put on and once on are there tricks for keeping it on? other opinions welcomed.

You might have a lot better luck calling it "stitch-on bar wrap" and not "leather stitch," whatever that is.

Ben's Cycle seems to have some advice in the product description. I'm not into leather bar wraps myself, however I think you can probably trust that they're very nice indeed. Fugitoshi makes a damn fine product.

haven't used Toshi's, but I just threw the VO elk-hide wrap on my bars. The product & installation of it looks similar to Toshis (although the Toshi stuff looks better maybe). it was not difficult at all, just time consuming. The VO wrap has a tape backing on it, so it sticks to the bar when you peel it off and you pull the perforated edges together. I'd expect the Toshi wrap to have something like that going on with it.

brown stitch-ons look like foreskin or a sausage. black looks too harley-davidson or gimp.

use the toshi or vo tape instead - just as comfortable (if not more because it's thicker) but without looking like a tool.

or just use fizik tape and be done with it.

lol i guess you are right about the look but i dig it. the black atleast you have scared me away from the brown thinking ill be holding onto 2 foreskins my whole ride.

The "look" is totally subjective. I don't think mine look very sausage like, but maybe that's just me.


If you do it right, you can make it look however you want. I will suggest throwing some cloth tape underneath it to give it more cushioning.

I find them extremely comfortable and the scuffs/wear only make it look better with time. I used cloth tape underneath just so the tape would stil to something not as slick as bare metal.

The only con in my eyes (it's almost not even a con) is that they do take a few hours to stitch together, but I was watching a DVD while doing it so no biggie.

I bought the regular ones and cut them once I was finished. I used the left over (which was quite a bit) for my g/f's townie. Great stuff and highly recommended.

How does this stuff hold up in the rain? I can see doing something like this to my commuter, but it gets wet every once in a while if I'm caught off guard with the rain.
