Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I've never had a silver marking, but either Conti or CT recommend cleaning the tire before each ride with isopropyl alcohol. I do this each time, never had a problem.

I must be the only one that didn't have an issue mounting this tire. Lucky me. It is a great tire for it's intended use.

Pre stretch the tire before mounting... it helps a little bit.

I didnt have too much trouble. Sun CR-18 rim (always runs big and any tire is tight)

Love(d) my bright orange Conti training tire on my CT. Smooth, no daily cleaning of rollers, put on 1000 miles last winter and 200 this year, until a surprise - wap - wap - wap - BAM, side wall blew out. LBS was wow'ed ! A new superman on the trainer? ( not ). Their sending it back to Conti for a swap out, meanwhile back to an old black Michelin left over. Lumpy, slips, have to clean after every CT ride. I'll go for another orange conti trainer tire, even with an occassional heart stopping side wall blowout.

What rim was that tire mounted on?

I found that they mount easier on rims that are 18mm or less. I put one on my hybrid rim 19mm the other day, it was a pain to get on and now have a pinch nerve in my hand. When I mounted it on my spare road wheel, 17mm, it went on with no issues and very quick.

My LBS mounted one in about 1 minute using his hands. They never use levers.

Will never use a Conti Home Trainer again. I've had 2 that started spitting orange rubber all over. I used the first one for 100 miles, the 2nd for 22. I'm much happier with a cheap, hard tire. They don't wear at all.

Thank god is wasn't just me. I mounted one of those tires late fall and had to walk away from it several times before I ended up chucking it into the woods behind my house. I finally got it mounted and I am spinning along when...

BOOM...Gave myself a heart attack, the cat, (who was watching my spinning warily through one slitted eye), just about S**T on the chair pad she was curled upon and my wife keeps yelling WTF was that...WTF was that! All I can think of after my heart stops racing is that I have to try to mount that tire again.

I just put a conti trainer on this morning, took me a couple minutes longer than usual but got it on with plastic Tire levers. I also had it pop off the rim, my problem was the that tire was pinching the tube ever so slightly at that spot.

Just use older 'still working but starting to look worrying' tyres on the trainer.

Or rig up some sort of device with a car jack to stretch it first.

I'm very happy with the tire. Use it on my CT. Wasn't too hard to mount on a Mavic Cosmos. Every other tire I had used eventually developed bumps/small blisters - so far, so good with this one after about 3 months.

Bontrager Select. Original Rim that came with the Trek 1500.

Nice to know I wasn't the only one with a sidewall blowout as well. Really thought the $ 500 CT motor blew. Glad it was just the tire. Given everyone elses problems getting theirs mounted, I'll make sure to have the LBS do it for me.

After working on this tire for while I've come to notice that the rim makes a sizeable difference in mounting difficulty. My Easton Vistas snap plastic levers. I just use the Park Tool metal levers for those. The Ultegra 6600 wheelset was mountable with plastic levers.

Yep...I save my old ones and have an older wheel that I use on the trainer. Just pop on a used tire, ride it till the cord shows, then take it off and pop on another.

I just wore through my 2nd last old tire and have 1 left. My LBS have the Conti and Tacx trainer tires, which I could get a deal on. A racing buddy of mine says he says 4000km (2000km per winter) on his Conti trainer tire without any issues. I'm at the point where I need to buy a trainer tire since I'm out of old tires to use. Any experiences with the Tacx tire?

I've got about 250 miles on the tire so far and it is showing absolutely no wear at this point. I have had no orange pieces coming off on the trainer / floor. It's been perfect so far, only problem was mounting it.

Have not experienced trainer-specific tires. I have >4000km on a Conti UltraSport on a Tacx roller - no wear whatsover. The wear depends a lot on the roller itself. Same tire (Conti), different trainer (Minoura), I was throwing rubber shreds everywhere. Some of it has to do with how easy/difficult it is to adjust the roller position (hence how hard it's driven into the tire). The Minoura was a b*tch (you actually had to play with the leveling screws on the trainer feet), the Tacx is a charm (knurled wheel).
