Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

turning to the "dark side" (Ti)

I have been spending too much time with a good riding buddy of mine who rides a Moots Vamoots road bike with full Dura Ace. I have been looking for a new option as far as a frame to build up with sram force and my powertap pro (not sure what wheel I am going to build around the PT yet) and it looks like Ti is where I'll be going. Unfortunately I do not want to spend more than 2000$ on a frame (kinda rules out the Moots). I was looking at a company called Everti. I think they are Canadian. There frames are beautiful and the price is about right (around 1500$ USD). Also, my big requirement with a Ti frame is that it must be the raw Ti/brushed look. No paint! I am looking for suggestions of other Ti frame manufacturers. I do not care where the frame is made as long as it is a quality build with quality tubing. Until I get any suggestions I'll keep reading some of the archived threads here.

Care to give a newbie your impressions on Ti versus carbon and versus aluminum, and why you find yourself heading towards Ti?

Are they of similar quality to say sevens, serrottas, moots, etc? They look nice and U.S. made is always a plus. I do have the opportunity to get a Ti serotta at dealer price as we sell them at the LBS I work at but that is the only Ti bike I know of that we can get ahold of. I really like the Moots, sevens, and evertis as well.

Check out what they say on their website regarding their frames. https://www.titaniumsports.com/frames.html

Are they the equal of a custom Serotta or Seven, likely not, but they are definitely very high quality. FWIW, I am very pleased with mine, even though it is a much earlier model.

+1, they were picked up by Harris Cyclery as a dealer. Must be something there.

Another vote for Habanero Cycles. I'm a satisfied customer; and they were a great set of people to work with. Standard geometry frames for $795; custom for about $1195.

Kurt at Everti is a very nice guy to deal with. The company is a Canadian company, howeve rthe frames are welded in Russia last time I heard.

Everti has this Ti Cross bike that I like very much.

Ya as of now my top choice is an everti as I like the raw look with their subtle decals. I like their cross bike as well! Looks like I'll have both a cross bike and road bike...haha.

TST makes and has been making frames for more popular brands for many years. I had a TST build Sandvik MTB hardtail several years ago and the welds were very good (not Moots, Eriksen, IF, or Lynskey mind you). Based on looks alone I'd chose a TST built frame over what I've seen from Airborne or Habenaro.

You might want to check out Colorado Cyclist's Douglas. Don't know if they have your size. A friend rides one and likes it. That's a great price considering that it includes the EC90 SLX fork.

Merlin, if you don't know, is owned by the same group as Litespeed, is one of the "originals", has some of the top welders in the biz, and has been around for a long time. Frames are made in Tennessee too. And what about Airborne? I think they went out of business, but there are probably some framesets out there that have not been ridden.
+1 ... I bought my Merlin Works CR 6/4 from Excel at that price - SWEET bike.

Also, check folks like DeSalvo, Kish. Their standard bikes are right at your limit and for not much more, you can go full custom.
