That's awesome. Keep up the good work.

Wanted to get down to Pittsburgh this morning but went to church for Father's day instead. Had the in-laws over for lunch so headed out late this afternoon on the same road loop that I've been riding. Went out armed with the camera today. Also have a pair of shorts now and wanted to try them out. I'm converted even with my cheap $25 shorts. Use to start getting sore at 45 minutes and almost unbearable at an hour and a half. Was in the saddle for 2 hours, though I did have many stpps with the camera, I had no soreness the entire ride.

Update:

MTD: 215 miles Goal: 500 miles

This is the most I've every ridden in a month well, because I only have a YTD of 384 miles, and a Lifetime to Date of... 384 miles

Been working a lot but I'm going to try and step it up this week. Last week I slacked a bit. Moved to an area of elevation (compared to flat prior). Before, 30 miles on flat was relatively easy. Now, 10 miles of hills are tough! No excuses, it's a better workout lol.

Well, made it to Pittsburgh this morning. Parked at Millvale (I think) and rode up past PNC Park and Heinz Field. The trail ends just past the West Pen correctional institute. That was interesting, you can hear them yelling inside since there is no glass in the windows, just bars covering the window openings.

I was surprised that it was only 5 miles to the end. Someone directed me to cross over the Ft. Duquesne bridge to get to Point State Park and I rode around the point, then followed some loaded down tourers, whom I assumed was heading to the Great Allegheny Passage, up over the Ft. Pitt bridge across the Monongahela River. That took me down some road which I followed them out into the lane because the sidewalk was way overgrown. Turned down to the trail along the Mon River and rode that all past the other side of the city.

Finally came to a bridge where looked like the trail headed out into the streets for a bit so I figured it looked like a cool bridge to cross over and it ended up being the Hot Metal Bridge that I've read and saw video of. Back across the Mon. River, I headed back towards the city and Point State Park. The trail breaks up into the streets of Pittsburgh in several places, so I ended up losing the trail. I had no idea where I was going so I stuck on the sidewalk not walking, but just putting at a walking pace until I asked someone. He said he assumes I was still on the Heritage trail because he sees a lot of bikes coming through when he walks.

Found my way back to an actual trail and back to the point. I rode up to the fountain and circled it with the wind blowing the misting water and it felt fantastic as it was getting hot. Circled the fountain, went back down to the water edge and rode around the point back to along the Allegheny. By now it was close to noon and there were people everywhere. On that side of the Allegheny there wasn't much room with all the people walking so I turned around and went back over the Ft. Duquesne bridge back to just between Heinz Field and PNC Park. Headed back to the car from there.

I think saddle time was just over 2.5 hours which with the bike shorts I had no saddle soreness whatsoever. Shorts are fabulous! Ended up with a hair over 22 miles which breaks me of the 100 mile barrier for the month. 150 is the goal but would really like to hit 200 which might be doable since we are just about halfway done with the month.

Tomorrow will just be an early ride on my Allegheny River Trail, then perhaps Wednesday I hope to head up to complete opposite of the city of Pittsburgh and ride in the middle of the Allegheny National Forest.

I started June 1st so have no idea what the total will be, it is 115 as of today though, that is logged on cyclemeter, I did not take my phone a few days because I had no way to keep it dry, now I have a seatbag and a ziplock in the seat bag to keep the phone dry.

I guess I should start an excel spreadsheet log maybe.

So my goal is 200+ but 300 is not out of line either.

Hope I don't bore you with my little mini stories instead of just tossing the mileage down....

Monday was Pittsburgh. Tuesday ended up a rebuild my daughter's bedroom window day. Got it done just in time as it freakin stormed something terrible over night. What a light show in the sky though.

Yesterday morning is grocery day so I was home with the youngest while Wifey and oldest went shopping. Rain in the morning and the afternoon ended up to be absolutely gorgeous. Didn't want to be too terribly long so didn't go anywhere special. I've wanted to go ride different bike trails around W. PA. Ended up just going to my local Allegheny River Trail.

Had the camera over my shoulder and thought, I'm on this trail all the time. So, I put it back in the car. The wannabe photographer in me is kicking myself now because from all the overnight storm activity, there was massive amounts of water coming down off the mountains. I ended up riding the 12 miles to the 2nd tunnel and at the entrance of the tunnel, there is a shale rock face that usually has water trickling down. Well, from the huge storm, it was a sheet of water cascading over. Amazing looking and I didn't bring my camera! Photographers have rules too. Rule number 1, never be without your camera. I broke rule #1 .

Wanted to see what was beyond the 2nd tunnel so I went a little further. I didn't expect the trail to end and have to take a gravel road out around a bunch of camps. Thus, I had to see how far that lasted. Went a mile or so and back on the paved trail. There is a waterfall that I've never visited in 14 years of living around here and was hoping to see a sign or something so I went further yet. At mile 15 I turned around out of water. Grabbed some spring water coming out of the mountains, had a fill of about a bottle and a half and filled the bottle to put back on the bike. Love spring water.

That put me at 30 miles when I got back to the car. I didn't intend to ride that far, isn't that how it goes? Ended up being my longest ride yet. I made it which is good because I want to ride the Little Toby Creek Trail in Ridgway, PA and it is 18 miles to Brockway. Unfortunately it is still raining this morning. I wanted to get out early and ride it. Only 1 more day of vacation for Wifey and we are going somewhere tomorrow so my riding vacation is finished I think. Got 3 nice long rides in, but only 1 new area explored, Pittsburgh. At least Pittsburgh was the highest priority to ride at.

6/3 - 11 miles

I am surprised by how little cals are burnt during riding (on another thread here) compared to what lose it indicates. 1.3 hour ride at 10-11.9 mph burns 847 cals on lose it. I have to stop counting the riding in my total cal consumption for the day. That should get me back on track of losing tonnage.
