Less trash on tour*
*stuff, not the tourists themselves
I built a bike up during COVID. I ordered a bare frame and every individual component. It all came in retail packaging inside shipping packaging. When I got finished with the build (turned out great!), I couldn't believe the size of the pyramid of cardboard and plastic packaging next to the workbench. Sobering.
Anyway, here's a thought-provoking article on reducing waste when on tour courtesy of our friends at bikepacking.com:

Note: Comments on the original article said, 'But what about eating a vegan diet?' Uh, yeah, this article is just about reducing waste on tour. Others said, 'But what about those flights to Europe and Asia to go touring?' Uh, yeah, this article is just about reducing waste on tour. 'But what about those evil corporations?' Uh, yeah, this article is just about reducing waste on tour.
Aaaaand here's a tour report with some of these ideas implemented:

So hey, if this is ever anything you've thought about, give it a read. If it's just going to make your blood pressure go up, go on a ride instead.
