Having trouble in inserting new brake pad into brake shoe.vintage campagnolo

Anyone would like to share some technique of inserting new brake pad into Campagnolo nuovo record brake shoe? Thanks.

I have bought new brake pad, which is measured slightly wider than the slot of brake shoe, with about 2.5mm difference, making it seem like impossible to insert into the shoe easily.

Any advice to accomplish this? Thanks in advance.

use soapy water and a c-clamp to press it into the holder from one end.

Windex or soapy water to reduce friction.

Also www.bikeforums.net/classic-vintage/1216271-advice-changing-brake-pads-vintage-bike.html for previously supplied wisdom.

Is that a Campagnolo branded pad?

back side does not appear as typical.

I would derust the holder completely, exrust or similar product. Avoid excess friction.
‘On some alternate brand pads, a bit of a chamfer to ease the start helps.
I use a bench vise and once in a while soapy water.

Scribe

Get a small triangle file and scribe the pad to fit. I put a bit of resin in there if you over do it but just go slow until it squeezes in snug. Bending old pad holders can easily end in tears whereas pads are cheap and plentiful.
