N. S. C. Seat
The plastic base of this seat is cracked. Is it worth keeping the rails and springs or should I just throw the whole thing in the trash?

Once the plastic seatpan is broken, the saddle is pretty much toast.
If the crack is not that big yet, it will most likely get worse as you ride on it and a broken saddle is no fun if you are miles away from home, on the road.
You can maybe try plastic welding to fix it, but I suspect the repair seam might be too brittle to last in most cases.
If this was a leather saddle like a Brooks, then it might be worth saving the springs and rails, but unlike a Brooks, this saddle does not have the proper rear cantle plate and nose piece to rivet on a leather cover.....

The only reason I'd keep the springs is to throw in my "can o' springs" to repurpose some day on likely a totally unbike related project.
The old "let me dig through this can and see if I can find something that will work".
That is if the bolts came apart with minimal effort. I'd probably save the bag tabs too. I could see those easily repurposed in some fashion.

Thanks guys! I'll probably disassemble it and save the metal parts for a year, then decide they're trash, too.
