You could also park near Beverly and Painter and then go east on Turnbull Canyon to S. Vallecito then turn round back to Painter. That gives you 9 miles and 1400' per round trip Do that 15 times and you get the keys to the club

Yeah, I'm working up to it... the back half of Turnbull is a nasty little narrow thing and all the local hotheads with their souped up Civics like to teach that road a lesson. I actually live very near the intersection of Mar Vista and Colima - no need to park anywhere to access that climb. My new favorite "short" hilly route is this one: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/997338

And if I really have no time at all to ride but I've got the itch, I'll do laps of this one: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/981647

So my goal this month is 401 miles (to make up for the one stinking mile I missed last month) and I'm intentionally making those hilly miles despite the protests of my knee, so it's possible I'll make it. We'll see.

elevation:

I just did a long ride saturday

Garmin (the device itself) says 1700 or so
Garmin connect with elevation correction says something like 2700
Strava says 1854
Training peaks with elevation correction says 3700 or so

I also look at the supposed grades on strava, and they have to be crap. They never registered over 4% I know beyond a shadow of a doubt those roads are higher...heck some of them even had signs saying 6%

What do you do with stuff like this?

The elevation correction feature may not be as accurate as you want to think it is. The device is reputedly correct, or close enough. Strava seems to be close to the uncorrected garmin data.

I went on a ride the other day, the correct garmin elevation data had a huge spike in the road that I know doesn't exist. Ergo, I assume the unit's measurements were more accurate.

I don't really get too worked up about it, nothing major is on the line.

I think strava averages the grades out pretty good so you don't see short spikes like you really do when you're riding.

461' yesterday

4566' MTD

Not as much as I'd like. May still hit 10,000' for the month but more likely 7500'

Yeah I think 27,663 is a guarantee. LOL

The real question is how long after this weekend will it be before I even want to look at my bike and can I still break 30,000 after the "break"

You'll take a couple of days off then back on it Tuesday. My guess is you'll join the 30K club easy.

Myself, I'll have to get back on the bike after Saturday as I'll only have 7 days left to eclipse my best elevation gain month which was last month.
I've only had 8(!) rides this month. This sucks.

Less than 700 feet to get to my goal of 15k, and I still need to ride another 115 miles this month...so I will easily hit my elevation goal, just gotta focus on my mileage goal.
