Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Is Indy still in Detroit?

Right next door in River Rouge...

CSL Tadoussac in a very calm Rouge River as a 3 unit CN 383 manifest heading to Flat Rock, cruises by in the foreground over the Conrail bascule bridge.

Have always liked that CN livery. For a few years we rented a cabin in the Poconos and would usually see an NS train with a run through CN locomotive in the lead on the former Lehigh Valley main on its way to N. Jersey.

Same for driving a fuel efficient car. While you're driving a hybrid or e-car, there's 10 people passing you on the interstate at 80 mph in a large gas-guzzler.

I guess one can only do what they think is right and figure the universe will take care of the rest.

It’s a chilly and windy morning, which feels more like early March than late April.

Time to ride!

It's supposed to get down to 38 in Morgantown Saturday night. It will probably be colder in the woods at French Creek. At least I will have the Philly bike club picnic to look forward to. My route just happens to pass right by it on Sunday.

That's just down the street from where I work in Melvindale That's marathon oil refinery. I 75 over Fort street.
Edit; That's a weird angle for me, I'm on the other side looking back normally. That's on the wrong side of the salt mine from me. Messing with my head man!

We visited Marathon when we were out there last month. Huge customer of ours. Went to the lab. Met the guy who, among other things, tests samples for octane levels.

I work with people who have been down in that salt mine. (It's a big customer as well.) They say it's really cool (literally and figuratively) down there. Our trip was on such short notice that we couldn't arrange a tour. Personally, I have no interest. With my luck, the thing would collapse and I would end up the subject of a Gordon Lightfoot folk song.

Well, around here, you're likely to be passed by an e-car. Teslas are like belly buttons here.

I won't lie; the water concerns me about moving to CO. Not sure what to do about it though; not like staying in Texas is a great hedge against global warming.
