Classic Rendezvous West - Vintage Bike Show

Hi to all,

Classic Rendezvous West - Vintage Bike Show - Saturday 19th October 2024.
Located at the US Bicycling Hall of Fame, Davis California

Here are the basics on the bike show, ride and swap:
*Admission/Display to the bike show is $10 to offset facility rental expenses
*Vintage bike ride 9:30-11:30 Saturday
*Swap opens after 9:00 Saturday (this is outside the patio area)
*Vintage bike show opens at 12:00 on the main floor

* Things wrap up at around 4:00

I think there will be enough display area for about 35-40 bikes, if there are more folks that want to display, we will figure it out. There will be parking within two blocks and there is a farmer's market next to the facilities for lunch. More details to come on how to sign up for display, swap etc.

This sounds like fun: a swap meet, a vintage ride, and a bike show what else could you want. Plus my son goes to UC Davis so I have another reason to go. I should be there.

Did someone say vintage ride?
I really like this idea. A great way to celebrate my 70th birthday! Thanks Guy

Great news! Will forward the info to the local vintage enthusiasts, including the CA Eroica types, as well as the Davis Bike Club. Glad to see another reason to be in Davis that weekend in October.

There will be more than one ride for the weekend

I have been working with Guy to host a ride on the Saturday of the event. I have a 35 mile, mostly flat route drafted that will begin and end at the HOF building. A few of us rode the route last week and it seems mostly good to go with a few small tweaks to make it more enjoyable and eliminate a few confusing twists and turns at the beginning.

Got some feedback about the timing of the Saturday ride and I will work with all involved to make sure that it doesn’t conflict with the opportunity to hunt for good deals at the swap meet. When the route is finalized, I will link to a RidewithGPS file and also upload a printable turn by turn for the old schoolers. The 35 miler will also have a bailout option that will shorten the route by about 10 miles.

I will also schedule rides on the Friday and Sunday of the event weekend through the Camellia City Vintage Lightweight Cycling Club so that people visiting the area for the long weekend will have the opportunity to ride with other vintage enthusiasts. Our (CCVLCC) rides are open to non members at no charge. We regularly have riders from other clubs join us.

Details will come into focus in the coming few months so that people considering attending will have time to plan.

I am very excited that Guy and others involved in the Classic Rendezvous group are taking the lead on this. I look forward to meeting people I’ve interacted with on BF and in CR in person when this weekend comes together in October.

I have a buddy about my age who retired from teaching chemistry there. He is a fellow music lover who comes to San Diego almost every Labor Day weekend for our annual Brucknerthon*, so maybe it's time to visit him the next month.

We eat drink, socialize, and play recordings for all 10 (F and 1-9) Bruckner symphonies. Always fun to show up on my Austrian bike.

I'll have to see if I can get out there. Sounds like it'll be a great weekend!

I just checked the Eroica events and it appears even the Nova Eroica California has been dropped. Their loss.

Hmm, and I’ll be on sabbatical, trying to maximize the mileage. Perhaps this will be @gugie’s annual Bay Area ride?
