1960 (and a half???) Schwinn Fair Lady
My friend just dug a bike out of her garage that she says is a 1960 and a half (??) Schwinn Fair Lady. She's been told it's worth alot of money. Like several hundred. Is this right? Is there such thing as a 1960 and a half? She might have said 1961. It's had some work, new chain I think, and tires, but the rest looks original (I can take pictures if you want). Reason I ask is she's planning on putting it in her yard sale for like $60 (doesn't like trying to deal with online sales). But if it is worth way more than that, I could list it for her...

Schwinns can be dated by their serial numbers and generally this includes a month code as well. For instance, a 1960 Schwinn frame made in June would have a serial number beginning with "F0XXXXXXX." F=June and 0 or zero=1960. By the time they reached 1970, the first letter was the month and then the year was represented by a letter. Thus June 1970 equals "FFXXXXXXXX."
