looking for a pair of dummie brake levers..
Is that what we call them?
I know Dia-Comp made some. Thought I'd ask these two questions…..
1, does anybody have a set they want to sell? I know I can look on ebay, but would rather ask here first.
2, I have a drawer full of Italian brake levers, including some Campy with scratched tips. Does anybody know how to convert them to dummy?
I could shorten them to just below the branding, but how to make them stay in place, or at least not flop about.

New COLNAGO tandem owner (I'm new, not the 'Nago which was built for the 1980 olympics that America's boycotted.)

If I had a drawer full of vintage brake levers I wouldn't shell out good money for the Dia-Compe dummy levers. I'm not sure I would even bother trying to shorten the lever blades. As for immobilizing the blades ... just go for it. Pack the area with something. You're not trying to make it rigid, you're just keeping it from flopping, like you said. You'll come up with something.

Headed to Tacoma Screw. I think I can get a spring to fit in there somehow.

Removal of the lever blade, if that's what it's called, so that only the body of the lever remains is usually easy.

I was just down there for the big swap meet at the velodrome
I appreciate your offer. I'm experimenting with both a skinny screw that locks the lever in place. Plus, the little springs from Shimano 105 levers if I swap the grub screw on the Campy with one with a head to hold the spring in place.
I already cut down a scratched to hell campy lever set, so let me play around a bit more before I go Dia-Comp.

If you know someone with an ultrasound, you could clean the levers with it then dribble/pack epoxy into the hinge. Clean enough and enough epoxy and that lever or lever base isn't going anywhere.

Are these what you are looking for? If interested, PM me. For the cone shaped nut you show above, this is something that might be 3D printable in plastic if it does not need to provide a super strong clamping force.
