Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

There is a heron that has been hanging out at the duck pond near my house because this summer's drought conditions dried up his home near the MUP. I though I would get his picture with my Raleigh but he would not have any part of it. The ducks though flocked to my bike like it was made of corn.

Looks very nice. Is it a custom bike?

yes it is a custom. Built around midreach caliper brakes so I can fit up to 35c tires. I really love it!

A gum walled beauty - the white bar tape really does it on this classic bike. Great composition both pics, an example why I like this thread so much.

A little further down the river is the blue bridge and on the other side of it, the cable bridge.

On the Snake River in Washington, between Clarkston and Asotin. The promontory down the river is called Swallow’s Nest. My wife and I were visiting family and friends in the area of our misspent youth. This was wild river then, but the Army Corps of Engineers built a dam down the Snake from here that flooded all the places we spent our summer days and nights. But they did leave us an excellent paved trail along their levees.
