those that drive to the store by themselves to get food for their selfish self, are they too introverts but don't realize it?

I do not find the OPs question unreasonable. Cycling, by in large, is a solo activity. However, socially outgoing people might not even consider the loneliness of individual training and instead seek out group sports like baseball, football, basketball, soccer, etc. It takes a special breed to spend countless hours alone with their own thoughts. Of course there is overlap like a Venn diagram, where one circle (the introvert) intersects solo sports *yeah I know there are teams and and group rides* with outgoing people in group sports. Each group is not mutually exclusive because there will always b e overlap and exceptions. It would be interesting to see a study of what personality types are drawn to certain types of sports.

I have seen many an innocent question or someone wanting to contribute to the community ending up attacked. Hopefully this thread will remain civil.

back to the OP's query: a couple of years ago i had to drop something off at the LBS right at the opening bell. saturday morning, 7:45. there were so many bikes & riders congregating i had to park a block away.*

when the weekly group ride started, it took two turns of the traffic light for the group to clear itself from the intersection and take a whole width lane of traffic on its way out of town. i'm sure things got stretched as they rode, but it reinforced to me the reason i ride alone.

*since i live in mayberry, it was a big deal.

Even with my foray into Craigslist N+1, I'm likely way better off than the average golfer over the long haul. Even with multiple bikes to manage I'm sure there are many other more expensive hobbies. If it ever became too burdensome, I'd have no trouble returning to N=1.

The first thing you need to determine is whether introverts participate in online social media forums.

If you ask a question on a forum and no introverts respond, why even ask?

INTJ (although that J has flipped to P the last few times I've taken it)

Definitely an introvert, yet that doesn't mean anti-social, and I love group rides. I haven't been on one in a year due to the pandemic, and I miss riding with my friends.
