Forekaster/Rekon F/R seems to be a popular combo for the terrain around here. I just think that the DHF/Aggressor is just way too much tire for the kind of riding I do. And from what I hear the DHF is one of the slowest rolling tires out there. I don't want to go really shallow tread or thin casings since there's a lot of roots and rocks where I ride, but it would be nice to shave a few hundred grams off the wheels if possible. I do know that I absolutely despise riding the bike on anything other than singletrack and the tires that are on it I'm sure contribute a lot to that.
Plus, if I did find a lighter, smaller tire I would be worried about losing the grip and durability of the Rekons. And the bike is 32+pounds and I'm 200.
Maxxis has a lot of info on their website and you can compare their tires against each other. There are so many different ones I write the model number down so if I see something on sale I can be sure which one it is.
I've used Maxxis road tires and was pretty happy with them but prefer GP 5000s.

My record mid-ride meal happened on a solo century from Vancouver, USA to Olympia, WA. I'd hit a convenience market at mile 30 had a roast beef sandwich, chocolate milk and a couple fig newtons, then at mile 34 I saw a burger joint and thought to myself "You know I could still eat at least half a horse", so stopped in and ordered a burger, fries and milkshake. I just snacked on the rest of the sleeve of fig newtons 'til mile 66 when I got a salad. Then I felt kinda sluggish and weary 'til mile 85 when I got my second wind, was almost tempted to keep riding all the way to Seattle

When I toured for 6 weeks I was eating about 6000 calories per day and lost 10 pounds. I can eat a lot on a ride but certain things don't work. Actually not as much as I used to.

RollCNY told me he has a "BBQ chicken rule". If you come upon one of those church (or similar) BBQs, you must stop and partake.

15 mins after eating that, I set a PR on a 1/4 mile 16% climb - and felt no ill effects (other than my legs - which were screaming <-Shut up legs!)

It's never going to feel like a road bike. I know you know this but I have the same thought when I ride the mtb on pavement or super smooth dirt. My bike came with 27.5 x 2.8 Rekons. They are 850 grams, or more, and I run low pressure. I think about putting something faster on, but what? Anything dirt worthy is going to weigh close to that, I think.

I used a Versalog just a few days ago. I was looking for something in a box of junk from work and there were 4 slide rules in the box. I took the Versalog out and made a few easy calculations for fun. Oh, yeah, just like old times.

Schwalbe also …can’t recall the models / names … I believe one of the Schwalbe off road tiree is among the fastest and is also fairly lightweight
