most replacement freewheels these days have the hyperglide tooth profile,
the side ramps and shortened tooth makes early shifting..

tall teeth and late shifting and friction levers depended on the hand skills of the rider ..

I like the way tall tooth freewheels dont autoshift , like the new ones do, when the lever is not indexed.

..and the index stuff all in alignment and adjustment, becomes a separate complication..

980 is the lower consumer part, GS and Record priced above it.

It could be that the 15T now behaves like a cog that's seen elogated chains because of the grinding. After some more wear near the bottom of the tooth, it may start to behave normally...

They make 13-14-15-17-19-21-23 HyperGlide cassettes, too -- something to consider if you find yourself with a 7-speed cassette wheel. It's my gearing of choice now.

Can't tell from the photo, other than that the bevels look more than adequate.

In the case of not grinding enough, the chain usually will wear in to a solid engagement with the sprocket in a couple or few hundred miles.

If you took too much off, possibly you could find someone with the one 15t sprocket.

Glad to hear the bike is running well.

EDIT: Seeing ThermionicScott's post just now, sounds like a possibility it'll wear into perfection either way.

Accushift stuff is cool. I haven't used the Cyclone stuff, but I've used Superbe Pro, XC Pro and XC Comp- And those derailleurs are really nice using friction shifters as well...
I like the Cyclone stuff a lot, but for the absolute best, find a XC Pro front & a Superbe Pro rear. The Super Bee handles a 28t in the back easily, but I only use 5 gears in back. I'm 90% sure the XC Pro will handle a tricky triple up front too. Right now I'm running a 50/34 double setup, on a triple Race Face crank, and it "looks" like it'll handle a little 24t granny gear I have too, once I find the right chainring washers/spacers. The thing is, it's on a BB spindle that clearly says "for doubles only" on the web, so it shouldn't work.

Cool if it goes away, but if not no big deal. It works fine under normal load, I just can't mash on it. For 5$ I really can't complain and I got to learn a really neat trick in the process, so I'm happy!

Sounds like a good combo. I actually had some Superbe Pro shifters but I stored them very poorly and lost some of the critical small-parts.

I have an XC pro FD, but I had trouble getting it to work on a double (the limit screws weren't long enough to limit the cage travel). I took it to an LBS- he had no trouble whatsoever. He made a comment about how light it was.

The Superbe Pro- I think one of the prettiest pieces of bike hardware evAr- doesn't handle a 30- from my experience. It won't adjust far enough down to clear the 30- so it grinds. The XC Pro and Comp do. Marvelously. For whatever it's worth- I have had a medium cage Pro and a long cage Comp working on either 32 or 34 (I should count those teeth one of these days).

Although much of that is out of what Sizzle-Chest needs.
