Everyone, this subforum and specifically this thread is about e-bikes. If you don’t like them and just here to disparage e-bikes, it’s best to just move on.

Most individuals who post here know there is a Class system in about 75% of the states which define Class 1, 2 & 3 e bikes as bicycles with the same rights and responsibilities as bicycles unless they're prohibited specifically in certain towns, counties or wherever. Some states have even less restrictive laws for them. BTW, Siu Blue Wind is an administrator who seems to have watched this forum at times and has represented us perfectly.
People for Bikes has been very successful in promoting their model legislation for e-bikes in the U.S. They are actually now at about 85% adoption of some variation of their model legislation. I remember when they were at less than 50%.

Outside the U.S. is a different story. It seems that most other countries are inclined to limit both power and speed to a greater extent.

If it doesn't fit into I,II, III, it's illegal in Europe too. Where in the world is it that has different rules that are different enough that we need to worry about them? And what are they? Tbh, I'm not particularly interested in places where electric mopeds/scooters/motorcycles aren't regulated. We aren't a motorcycle forum. There are places on the web where things like that are celebrated, I even have accounts at the main one.

We need new laws and facilities. Narrow delivery vehicles are extremely useful. We have had delivery bicycles in NYC since they were invented more than 100 years ago. Nowadays I see these narrow "trucks," and I can't overlook their usefulness.Ideally, we should have lanes for four-wheel (and more) vehicles, lanes for motorized two- and three-wheel vehicles, and lanes for human-powered bikes. It's a lot to ask, but we need to make this make sense. Narrow vehicles reduce congestion and can deliver more quickly than big vehicles.

You see this is my point.

(reminder, I have no qualms with most ebikes and their riders)
