Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Drinking from a Camelbak will become second nature after a while and as mentioned is much easier than a bottle. You can put the tube in your pie hole and put your hand back on the bar in a couple seconds.

Tell me you aren't using 40 psi in your front tire? Go 30 or less, both ends. Depending on the tire, you might be able to go 20, at least in the front.

And I have used a bent coat hanger to dry a Camelbak bladder but I usually don't bother. Once in a while I wash it with a little dish soap and a long brush. Probably way overdue for that now.

Reminder my friend installed USED 11s Ultegra Di2 in the Roubaix.

I last charged it about 2 weeks (300 miles) ago.

At the start of today’s ride the battery light indicator on the junction box lit up >50%. Fine.

At the end of today’s ride, which was only 50 miles, just as I crested the last hill, the FD stopped working so clearly the battery is very low. I came home and put it on the charger.

I am wondering how the battery can go from >50% to low in just one short ride. I am wondering if this is typical for an old battery.

Anyone with experience care to comment?
Cordless drill batteries do that.

I constantly confuse adult Mexicans with teenagers, and teenagers with nine year olds. But. I have the diminutive stature card in the mix. Nowadays I just don’t use age related language unless the are clearly small children, or graybeards

Training out in the wild with full aero setups huh? Disc wheel etc... I ride shallow rims when training outdoor on my TT bike nearly all of the time, unless preparing for an event. I wonder if they were doing some very specific training!

As for a study, you could be right. My doc does a lot of studies and I do have a lot of rules to follow. Also, I was quizzed heavily about taking meds and how I take them and whether I miss dosages, etc.

I would not move to the regressive south today if I was starting over. We would move now but we dont want to be far from our kids.

Yep, def. a head cold going on that I most likely picked up from Liz. Darnit. Was really hoping to get some TSS in tomorrow, we'll see about that. Maybe I'll stick indoors and just do 3-4 hours of z2 on the trainer. That's still solid TSS and it avoids any undue spikes in power, HR or effort. Then I can take it easy next week.

Everyone under 35 looks 12 to me anymore. And they should get off my lawn.

Just the one guy on a TT bike, the rest were on regular roadie rigs. Also Friday rest day ride is NOT a no-drop ride, as two more stragglers showed up several minutes afterwards.

I thought there might be a race here this weekend but The only event in AZ I see is a Crit in Tucson tomorrow. Maybe there's something in Las Vegas this weekend?

Ya who knows, could just be in the area for training? Not in the loop with racing out there.

I do come out to southern Az often for El Tour (de Tucson) and Valley of the Sun Stage race most years. Never been to northern Az, but I have some buddies who have good things to say about the trails. Might have to come sometime, and hit up Flag and Sedona while I'm at it (for MTB).

Actually looks like it was 2 on TT machines and 5 on road bikes altogether.

I put a used system on my Propel and the battery performed similarly. I sprung for a new battery because mine was older and was missing some of the electronics like being able to integrate with my Garmin. My new battery does hold a charge longer but it still runs out quicker the second 50% than the first 50%.

Better shifting says batteries are good for ~ 300 charge cycles: https://bettershifting.com/frequentl...y-di2-battery/

Can't help much beyond that.

Can't help you there but in my experience with rechargeable batteries, once they lose a big chunk of their range, they're toast.

Also, some of the replacement batteries out there are junk. Mrs bought one for one of her phones and after a couple months it won't charge back to 50%.

There was a guy who came to our club rides in full-on TT set-up. He wasn't a problem for anyone except he didn't bring tools or a tube or money or anything.
Strange guy. Friendly and had the body of a Greek god. Did modeling for a living. I think he was used to charming people to get whatever he wanted.

if someone came to my ride with a TT setup I would tell them to stay on the back. Those bikes are not as maneuverable as a road bike.

Thank you, a-hole contractor for trying to squeeze your F 350 between my car and the back of a FedEx truck while trying to make a tight turn. At least he flatted and couldn’t leave the scene.

Definitely lucky he flatted. Maybe special permits should be required to drive F350s within the city limits.
