18.5" early 80s rare chrome KHS Sierra Sport

RE-HOMED!

I bought this with much excitement, and I am letting it go with much sadness. I have too many frames sitting when they could be used by someone.

I have found literally 1 single image with a similar frame over the past 2 years. I got most of the chrome cleaned up. There are a few signs of use, but the chrome is very nice still (just a few chips but no peeling).

It is an odd one for sure all around. Someone told me when I built it up it would be a Cadillac-like ride. It is not svelte. Well made with Tange 5 tubes/SunTour drops/ends and a really pretty vintage fork crown.
Seat-tube measures 18.5" CTC; 20" CTT
Top Tube is 23" CTC, and chainstays 18.5" CTC
21.1 steerer (BMX); I think 26.0 post
Normal ISO BB
Frame is aligned, but someone might wish to check all fittings and such.

$180 shipped, or make me a reasonable offer if it seems too much, or your heart has much desire for it!!! Paypal FF or cover the fees. Venmo is okay. Money Order is okay. I can only really ship weekends since I teach dawn 'til dusk.

Can you stretch it 3-4 sizes?

This and the Ritchey would be quite a pair to draw to.

Very cool. Do you have a straight on side full frame picture?

Yeah, it really is cool. Very raw like a BMX era frame, yet transitional to the later MTB stuff. Chrome is good and thick in most places, but like BMX uneven in spots.

If Chino goes MTB, this would be a good one to take along.

The KHS has officially been re-homed! Sierra says she is extremely happy to find a new home and someone to love them!

Everything is wonderful.
I could be in a LEGO movie.
now to decide on a drivetrain and seat and bars.
I’ll decide once there are wheels on it and a trial seat but a Klunker/ bomber type ride is a likely outcome.

That's where I was going to go with it, but in that format, it would have been too small for the road. I am betting the frame will be pretty bomb proof though?

Got wheels and cranks on it. I’ll need new bars, or maybe I can clean these up, and put some grips on them. I haven’t installed brakes yet, but it’s geared low enough that riding it on flat dirt has not been a problem.

I think this will be my main “quick trip to the hardware store) and just messing around bike. Sitting upright is nice for my neck and it’s fun cruising the very rarely maintained levees and dirt roads.

So far so good! Probably rides like a limousine.

This has moved on from being a play bike, to being my main rider. With a change in brakes I can run three different wheelsets, 2 are 26” but what primarily live on it, and will be perfect once I get a front brake to fit, are a set of 700x38s for all around commuting, shopping, and evening exercise/entertainment rides.

Never thought 700c would fit on there! I am so glad it has found a niche. What a great frame it is.
