Help to identify vintage touring frame with "S" embossed seat stays.

I'm trying to identify this frame. A unique feature is the "S" embossed seat stays.

The stylized S reminds me of Santana.

Looks like it may be a late 1980s Shogun Alpine GT. Serial number? Full drive side pic?

There's a model number on the top tube. It looks like it may be '500'. In the early 1980s it was a sports model, being re-designed as an entry level grand touring bicycle around 1985. This one looks heavily modified, with non-OEM bars, brake levers and rear derailleur. If the OP is interested, the serial number will tell us the exact year.

^That may be the clearest serial stamping I've seen.

The serial number indicates very late 1985 manufacture, so it's almost certainly a 1986 model.
