Rode yesterday, but 37 degrees F was a little chilly because I forgot to wear a skull cap under my helmet!

I ride with a cap when it's in the 40s--37 would be really chilly.

got in 38, before the anticipated rain, on the rental fuji... 1 flat tire, 2 times lost the chain shifting to the small ring - but boy is this thing faster than my hybrid... not sure why as its not that much lighter.

The wife and I rode today on our favorite rail trail the Little Miami Scenic Trail. We managed only 14 miles because we got a late start (3:00 pm) but it turned out to be a very nice ride. Heavy overcast but 62 degrees and light winds, the trail was wet from earlier showers but not so wet that spray was a problem. Since we started riding the LSMT in July we had covered everything from Milford Ohio to Caesar Creek a distance just over 30 miles except for about a two mile section. Most of the time we head to Morrow and head north because it's our favorite section but, there has been that two mile section from Morrow south that we had not covered until today. On our way back to Morrow we decided to add that two mile stretch to our ride just so we could complete the Milford to Caesar Creek stretch for the year. We put at least 300 miles on the LSMT for 2012 which is a lot for a couple of former serious couch potatoes. 62 degrees on Dec 16th, We're lovin it, should get at least one maybe two more rides in the coming week if the forecast holds up.

39 miles on my sort-of winter cross bike. Roads are mostly clear, with patches of ice or crusty snow. Temperatures in the high to mid 20s. I stopped for lunch about midway through, and somehow "lost" my skull cap in the lunch place. Crisis! Riding home without it would have been a chilly disaster. But of course, I had dropped it on the floor in front of the serving counter and an alert employee had stashed it by the register before I realized it was missing.

I"m quite happy with my winter setup. Of course, I have yet to ride in really cold temperatures or in really bad roads/trails, but for modest snow/ice and temperatures down to the 20s, I'm totally comfortable. We'll see what January brings.

This is actually from Saturday's ride...

Did our Country Path Ramble this weekend (it's an informal annual ride with a few friends). This year's ride was 48 miles, the majority of which was on stone/gravel farm roads. Someone got a decent pic of me during the ride

My steed, on top of the (local) world

Fellow BFer Yo Spiff taking better pictures than I do (in the red and black)

and during the ride

And one pic of most of the group

indoors only now, it's kind of cold and today the roads are covered with some white wet stuff - too dangerous for me.
I've got to move.

Doohickie, Looks like it was a great ride.

Got in a good 33 mile ride this morning. First ride over 30 miles since the beginning of November when the knee started giving me problems. However, no problems with the knee today. I'll be ready tomorrow morning for another 30+ mile ride.

I managed to get a ride in late this afternoon, thunderstorms rolled through this morning and hung on until around 1430. I let the roads dry for a bit then went out to try and loosen up, I was getting tightness in my mid-back and my left Achilles Tendon is swollen up. Riding was the right choice and the back is fine now, the AT is not as painful. All in all it was a good thing, as usual, to ride.

Thirty miles this morning with some unusually strong winds for that time of day. Normally the stronger winds come in the mid afternoon but I guess they knew I was out riding.

It is an absolutely beautiful day here, temps in the low 60's to the mid 50's, sunny and no wind to speak of at all. Took a new route this afternoon for a great ride and some variation in my daily routine. I thought about the tragedy in Newtown, CT, the entire time, though, God's blessings on those parents, siblings and husbands/fiance. Kept the nice ride and things outside in perspective for me. Hope the people in the next winter storm's path get by alright, it sounds pretty harsh for Colorado and that area.

It was cool and overcast but a great day for a ride, except for a rear flat at about 44 miles. It was good to get out today, we have been having rain or the threat of rain for over a week now. Very unusual for the desert of Arizona to last this long. It supposed to rain tonight again.

We had the wind but not the temp. Here in Central Texas it was in the mid 70s but the wind (according to Weatherbug) was 15 to 25 with gusts to 40 so I rode anyway. Worst wind i have ridden in. There were a few gusts that almost brought me to a standstill. It was a 23.5 mile loop. Going out I averaged 9.5 mph. But coming back I was so totaled that I only managed 14.5 mph even with that tailwind.

Yeah, I'd do it again.

Possibly my last bike commute of 2013 today: 20 miles. Mid-30's this morning and low 40's (and dark) this evening. But dry.

26 mile ride at 6:30 PM.

I didn't do it. Too tired. Took a nap and watched Hallmark channel movies. I love those things.
