Getting back on the bike.

So after a long absents from health issues, (my wife's) I am trying to get in some base miles. Now it going into summer in the Arizona desert and it getting easier to make excuses to not go out. Why is it so easy to break a good habit and so hard to make a good one.?
Now I am 5, no, 10, no, to be honest its really more like 15 lbs. heavier, my kits make me look pregnant, so I don't use them. I am up to doing 10 miles and hope to keep pushing it. I am riding the the Cannondale now, not yet ready for the road bike. I need to build up some core muscles and neck muscles before I can ride bent over. Its surprising how out of shape a person can get just by being lazy. LOL
Enough crying!! Its good to be on the bike again, Now repeat that a hundred times a day.

Welcome back from a 72 y/o roadie. Its getting HOT/HUMID here in Florida. I know what you mean about getting out of shape and gaining weight. Both happened to me after my hernia surgeries last year. My cycling clothes are still a bit tight. The bad news is I'm having one of the hernias that was "fixed" repaired next week. Six months after the surgery things started stretching inside. So June 1 I get to have it "repaired" again.

Welcome back too. I am in the same boat but gained 30 kg (66 lbs). Started riding again last Friday week. Had three 35-40 km (about 23 mile) rides this week and feeling okay.

About habits, they say it takes 30 days to form a new habit.

This getting old is not for sissies, is it? It seems fitness leaves quicker and getting fit harder. I guess I should not complain cause the not getting old aint all that great either.
