Finished up a 300 mile/15 hour week with a mix of group and solo riding today. Weather here has been awesome lately so I've been taking advantage. Summer is coming!

took 4 days of pent up aggression out today.

just shy of 5 hours with 5*9' hill repeats in the middle. ran into some of dz_nuzz and TKP's teammates and hitched a ride home on their wheel, which was a much needed assist.

Today was a really brutal allergy day. Finally made me accept that I do have allergies, LOL. "Oh, right, now I know why I feel like crap and get intermittent EIA in the springtime, duh."

Wells Ave training crit for me. It was nice to get a good dose of intensity before KSR. Not to mention get my head back into racing mode after several weeks off.

I climbed stuff at a pace that wasn't hard enough to really hurt but not easy enough to really be comfortable. It was fun and the day was beautiful and cars gave me the right of way when they were supposed to and did not get aggro. Yay bikes!

Last week:

7:45 Ride time
124 mi
558 TSS
4070 kJ

5th week of consistent training, haven't seen a ton of power progress, but I am feeling much better on the bike. Just need to keep this up for another few months to get back to a somewhat normal feeling.

this week is all about resting and tuning up for KSR.

easy spin today, i'm pretty crushed after yesterday's death march. tomorrow is the last hard day with vo2 in the morning and if it's not raining in the afternoon, some 1' intervals. definitely a harder workout than i would normally do the week before a target race, but given last week my tsb is positive right now so I don't think it's a terrible idea. easy spins wednesday and thursday, openers friday, then three days of getting my teeth kicked in in vermont!

Finally back to some non-week night racing this coming weekend! Been trying to bury myself but work has kept me busy. Got a good 14 hours in last week thanks mainly to a half day at the office on Friday. Finally sprinted well for a 3rd place finish in last week's B race. Hoping it comes together nicely on Friday night. Side note, I'm a 1 man team and know plenty of guys who are racing with 4-5 teammates and they love to send people off the front every couple of laps. Figure i'll cover the fastest guy and hope he isn't working for someone else. Darn race is at 9:55 at night.. i'm gonna be lucky to stay awake when the gun goes off

Not that your plan is a bad idea, but tsb matters less than how you feel. Don't go burying yourself on account of a chart telling you it's ok to do so, you're not going to gain any fitness with like 4 days to go!

Yup. Hardest thing I'm doing between now and openers Friday is 2x10 minutes of tempo on Wednesday. Might be on the light side, yeah, but the cake is baked at this point. Just need to keep it fresh.

yeah if i don't feel good tomorrow i'll definitely back off. after last week i'm more looking ahead to maintain for purgatory and harvard rather than trying to improve fitness for KSR. if this were gmsr it'd be a different story but there's a lot of racing even after this weekend.

6*5' hill repeats this morning. really glad i did them. honestly felt like death on the first one and assumed i was still tired from the weekend. starting telling myself i'd only do three, etc., etc. ended up feeling a lot better as the set went on and did the whole thing. set a new 5' power record and considering i'm still learning how to pace by power, i'm pretty happy all intervals were w/in ~15w.

I did a set of 12 1x1s last night, 1 min at Z5+, 1 min easy. It wasn't very difficult and I'm not sure how to proceed when that happens. Should it have felt harder? Should I have done more? Are my zones off? I have a couple hard days coming up so I didn't push it, trusting what my coach has scheduled.

1.5 high z1. Easy enough to feel like nosepicking, but juuuuust enough to keep legs from getting heavy.

2.5 hrs on zwift, another potential race (hilltowns) is out of the picture due to scheduled family travel, so it could quite possibly be october by the time I race next, maybe august at blue hills. boo

First ride of a new block, so I did my usual ride:

2 hrs mid/high z2, 2x VO2-max climbs (one at 6 min and one at 3.5-4), with some random intensity thrown in.

As per usual, my legs felt flat and unresponsive on the hard climbs, but I hit my power targets no problem. It's kind of a weird sensation when you have trouble hitting numbers not because you're tired or sore, but because it feels like you're having to drag your legs out of bed.

Get up! Time to go to work

I have an insane amount of time on Trainerroad+Kickr because of my schedule. The programs are pretty solid if you want to do some training blocks or you can pick and chose the workouts you want. I have some referral credits that can give you a free month if you want to try before you buy. Just pm me your email address.

Was rushed this morning trying to fix a flat (stupid tiny piece of wire), so all I had was a cup of coffee before I left. Did my standard 2x30' sweet spot ride and felt okay. Of course, I inhaled my lunch as soon as I got to my desk.

Yesterday 50 minutes 90% which is about 230 watts... hard to concentrate on PM for 50 minutes esp when you have to u-tun coz road is only 4 miles long (floods)

First day back after a rest week. Did the local noon practice crit. There was some construction on our usual short course so we did the alternative long course that I have never done before. Legs felt kinda crappy at first, started coming around near the end, but I didn't realize it was only 3 laps on that course and had no idea where the finish was, so I sat up after following the winning surge because I didn't want to blow myself up. Think I could have contested it if I knew! Oh well, that's why it's called practice.

Short recovery standing start sprint sets tomorrow, oof.
