So, there is this chart for New Winner freewheels. Is it compatible with Winner/Winner Pro freewheels as well? Or did the numbering scheme change. I've got some Winner Pro freewheels I want to start messing around with to create my preferred freewheel and am unsure about cog position.

For the record, I will be putting together an Ultra-6 freewheel.

Only indirectly. There are no "B" cogs on that chart. The Winner Pro freewheel body (gold lockring) is both splined AND threaded so you could build a freewheel using only the cogs on this chart. The other freewheels that take "B" cogs, the Alpha and "plain" Winner (sliver locknut) do not have threads for the center cogs and require use of the "B" cogs with (I think) fifteen splines.

I don't think so, because Winner and Winner Pro are both Accushift-compatible and New Winner is not. Pro Comp is compatible with New Winner. Wait for @PastorBobinnh to show up and he will steer your gear.

Waiting for @pastorbobnlnh is a smart idea. I don't think the above post is 100% accurate with respect to the "A" cogs. Pro-Compe has a roundish pip on it for the spline and Winners have a flat topped pip. You can put a Winner cog on a Pro-Compe freewheel body, but not the other way around.

Building an Ultra-6 is mostly about spacers with the exception of the outer "S" cog which is shaped (offset) differently

I've got eight ultra spaced winner or winner pro freewheels. Some 6 speed, some 7 speed. Since only the smallest cog will need to thread on, I'm curious how mixing and matching one can do of the 5 other cog positions, or if they're somewhat set in stone as we see from the New Winner model.

Good to hear it's mostly about the spacers though!

I'm not aware of any similar overview of the cog arrangements for the Winner/Winner Pro freewheels. I suppose the New Winner cog boards were working well enough to sell replacement cogs and spacers, and no shop would bother to have both hanging up.

I've taken the opportunity to document one of my own Winner Pro's, although it is normal spaced instead of the Ultra that you have in mind.

CORRECTION:

IIRC, a Winner (2nd gen) body also has the threaded and splinned area for the center positions to accept both types of sprockets. IT IS NOT THREADED! See pictures below.

​​​1989Pre mentioned, Perfect and ProCompe sprockets can be used on Winner family freewheel bodies. The threaded ones can be used in the center section and the splinned ones, after modifying the splines, can fit in the largest two positions.

A recent disappointment for me was the discovery that this second-gen Winner body does not have the threads in the center section. "B" sprockets are required, and I have very few of those......

Hopefully they are not all manufactured that way. I have one Winner Pro that has the threads and then picked this one up cheap thinking it would be the same but was disappointed. So it goes.....

Suntour definitely messed around, the demand for a 13t cog, close ratios, then the winner, then 7 speed, accushift piled on the differentiation.

I like them but …. Changing ratios 40+ years on is harder than recalling Regina cog positions.

Personally, this is why I prefer sticking with Perfect and ProCompe freewheels. Much more straight forward, and my need for a 13T seems to never materialize!
