Just wonder how often everyone rides their tandems. Once a week, year, decade? Whatever the case how often and where?

We are retired, married 50+ years and live in a suburb of Chicago. We ride with 2 clubs and just us. We rode 60 times in 2014 for a total of 1440 miles. We'll never catch Rudy and Kay.

We try to get out twice/week. In 2014 we did 70 rides, 3400 miles, and 140,000'. We should do better in 2015. We're at 370 miles and 16,300'.

At ages 82/79 we get out on our twicer about 3 times a week. Rudy also rides his single when not tandeming.
Back in the 70s, 80s and 90s it was 6 times a week and averaging 10,000 miles a year on tandem.
Our best/worst year was just over 13,000 miles and Kay said "we are grandparents, think we should see the grandkids once n a while?"
Now that we are great-grandparents, we finally cut back a bit!

We don't use Strava but ride about 4 days a week except when we miss due to weather or illness. Total miles in 2014 = 3,959 miles. Total miles and our speed is down from 2013.

We are both retired, 72/71 years young and in 2014 rode 369 hours, 5,878 miles and rode 296 times. That does include a few solo rides that I rode, stoker only rides the tandem.

We live in a small town in Central Illinois and have several loops that we ride, most of our rides are in the 20-30 mile range. We have a daughter who lives in Tulsa so we also ride in the Tulsa area on occasion. In the winter we ride indoors on our Computrainer, we recently upgraded from a unit that was over 20 years old to the latest model. Using ErgVideo training videos makes indoor riding very realistic. We usually ride by ourselves. We have been to a few tandem rallies and will be attending the SWTR in April.

In the warmer months, we were doing once or twice a week. Right now, with it being dark when I leave for work and come home, it's hard to find time to ride except on the weekends, and we often have other things going on. Looking forward to spring!

If I can convince the stoker to commit to riding an event, then we ride the tandem a couple of times a week when the event is approaching, otherwise about once a month in season. Last year we rode several hundred miles preparing for the 3-day Pedal the Plains tour. This year we are signed up for BikeMS. In prior years we rode short one-day events.

We try to ride about 4 times a week, usually 20-30 mile rides each time. We unfortunately live in MN, so the riding season is short. We're both college professors, so our schedules also interfere with our riding a lot. Since getting the tandem, I generally only ride my one of my singles about once a week other than commuting. My stoker almost exclusively rides the tandem but will occasionally go out when I'm on the single on her recumbent trike (she has balance issues from a stroke). I haven't a clue what our total mileage last year was, but its never as much as we would like to ride.

I'm the year round cyclists and my wife is not so in March we start slowly with hour long rides through our neighborhood 2 to 3 times a week. Then work up to longer rides of 2 or 3 hours on the weekends on paved trails in Washington or Idaho. Most weekend rides we pack a picnic lunch/dinner and make a full day of it.

We rode 74 times last year, mileage was 4,011. We ride year round (live in NC). Stoker is 62 and I'm 52. My wife rides the trainer 5x a week, me probably 2x per week on trainer or outdoors on single in summer.

We've ridden 3,000 miles in the 2-1/2 years that we've had our Cannondale. That's about 1,200 miles per year.

During a normal week we'll ride once or twice along a ten mile route near home. Then we'll go for a 15 or 20 mile ride on the weekend. Once in a while we're able to ride with the Orange County Rebels or the So Cal Team Tandems.

As others have said, we don't ride as much as we'd like, but we've enjoyed almost every mile. It's amazing to think of the people we've met, the places we've seen and the adventures we've had while riding!

We use our tandems for riding with our kids, now 11 and 8. For the last 3-4 years, we probably got out 10 times each summer for an average of 20-30 miles per ride. I'm not sure we'll manage as much this summer, though. We've recently moved to west Texas, where the roads and loose dogs are considerably less friendly to cycling. Additionally, the kids seem less interested in riding them than they used to be, claiming that they would rather ride their own bikes. However, they aren't strong or fast enough to do the distances that my wife and I would like to do, so we're at a bit of an impasse.

Weather permitting* we get out almost every day, at least for a half-hour spin around the neighbourhood. In the summer months we try to leave the car in the garage and use the tandem for most of our shopping and errands.

*We live in Saskatchewan, and do not consider days like today (–26º C.) to be permitted by weather. From November to March the temperature rarely rises above freezing and the roads are generally more ice than pavement, so the tandem sits, cold and lonely, in the garage.

219 times for 3914 total miles last year. Probably a third of thats in the winter on our Cannodale Mtb tandem with studded tires. Cant wait for warm weather in Michigan.

My first thought, and my wife's also, is not often enough.
That being said, we managed 3,700 miles on our tandem and triplet in 2014 and includes eight centuries.
We are both self-employed so we will have to see how our schedules play out for 2015.

Not enough, but it is time together, so it's all good!!

Our mileage is deceiving b/c we spend a disproportionate amount of time on dirt/singletrack on fat tires (which usually has a lot of climbing and it's slower too).

I just copied from Strava (under "My Profile) and pasted here. Then clicked "Go Advanced" and "Preview Post" to see if it still looked like a table.

I was kinda surprised that it worked.

Sorry to hijack the OP thread... but this Strava stuff is how we can tell you "How much we ride".
