Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Ultegra WH-R600 not available in the US?

Why don't I find this wheelset here in the US? It appears to only be available on websites that speak languages I don't know or understand...

(Except for Australia of course, but that is too far to go take a look.)

I believe the WH-R600 is similar to the WH-R550 and WH-R560, you can find all three models on ebay with 'buy it now' prices.

I have seen lots of WH-R560 on ebay in Hong Kong and Singapore, from sellers that look like they purchase in large quantities directly from Shimano. I am sure if you send a message to those sellers they can hook you up with some WH-R600.

here is a WH-R600:

and here are some WH-R560 for $190 in asia:

Any reason you want these? They're a little over 1900g for the pair. I'm sure somebody else will chime in with the obligatory oddsandendos plug

and for the price they're selling at, you can do a lot better. I see prices ranging from $350 to $600 US.

for under $390 you can get a brand new pair of 2004 ksyrium elites... or $450 for the 2005/2006 model.

here's two reputable ebay sellers with them:

You ask a good question. I have the RH500 (tiagra I guess) that came with my bike. They weigh the same and are 24 and 20 spokes.

I guess the weight at the rim is less because the nipples are at the hub and the rim weighs a bit less. But it's hard for me to understand why they are $450 more than the RH500s that I have.

Then again I only have a few hundred miles on them and they may give up after one season. Who knows....

I find it too difficult to pronounce unless I stand on my head. Then I am in the proper orientation.
