The inner plate on my RD-M952-SGS (Shimano XTR) broke.

I can't seem to find an inner plate for the life of me (Part: "y-5tp-10200")

I was reading that XTR cages are interchangeable is this correct? Any suggestions where I might find a cage, or the inner plate? Or is the derailleur too old?

I would go to a bikecoop and see if you can match up a more common rear plate. To me, the most important issue is that the distance between the 2 pulley bolts is exactly the same between 2 different plates. If you can find a plate with the same distance, it should work even if its a different color.

I have done this using a modern Ultegra derailleur and a mysterious inner cage plate from a beat-up early '90s Shimano road derailleur from a bike co-op. It may be possible to adjust the length of the cage by a few mm by squishing it carefully in a vise (which I did) if it's a cheaper, beefier cage, or to straighten a bent cage from a broken derailleur.

Be aware that different cage designs accomodate different pulley shapes, and you may need to experiment with different pulleys to get something that works with the new Frankencage.

EDIT: Is there any other damage besides the inner cage plate? Are the pulleys still intact, for example?
