I used the best kind of tubeless tape- NONE. I have Mavic Crossroc wheels on my kids bikes and they do not require taping because there are no spoke holes in the rim bed. It's a nice closed airtight surface. Same with the Ksyrium UST wheels, the Mavic Crossmax wheels, Shimano WH6700, WH6800, WH-RS500, WH7850 wheels, and previous gen Easton EA90 SL and SLX wheels. No tape needed. This is the only way I will go tubeless.

Just a heads up... it's not the stretchiest stuff so is a little hard on the hands keeping tension on it while wrapping, then rubbing out air bubbles, but it's not that big of a deal. For the price and how often I do it, i see that as a fair trade off.

Yes that makes sense. It wasn’t designed for rim taping. But it’s cheap so I grabbed a roll on the way home. Also can use it for parcels.

The front tire finally holding air. I initially removed the old rim tape installed by the LBS and used the same type, Muc off. Tire would not hold air. Checking the inner rim width, it was 20mm and the tape was 21mm. I encountered no issues with the rear. So then put another layer on top using Muc off 24mm. It is staying inflated for now.
