Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yes, I have not had the experience on e-Bay that you have. I have only used it off an on for a couple of years. I have had a few significant sales ($10,000 watch) and purchases (Scott Contessa - about $2,000 I think). I thought I understood their process for dealing with problems - I have read their instructions, etc. - and fortunately had never had reason to use it. Sure - my "I'm never using e-Bay again" statement was out of frustration. This experience has simply taught me that all those assurances on their site are for naught. Bottom line - It's a real hassle if you have an issue. For me, after this, I probably won't be tempted to use e-Bay again, but you are right - my one experience doesn't mean that e-Bay doesn't work.

Not for me. My kid loves hers. My Mom loves hers. I'm too retro. I need a laptop. I'm getting a MacBook Air. Splits the difference between iPad and Laptop, I got the 13" screen version, the 11" screen version is very cool too. Both are incredibly light and compact.

I think tablets are the way we'll all consume media going forward. I think future versions will be slicker, lighter, etc. For an initial effort out of the box, the iPad is a massive home run. Hence APPL trading @ $345/share.

My conception of how future tablets will be is visualized in the early scenes of the 2002 Spielberg scifi flick 'Minority Report'. All things considered the fact that Apple came out with a real world device that echos that film's fantasy props in the real world in 2010 (WAY ahead of anyone else) shows how visionary and capable they are.

All I'm saying is that your legit gripe aside, you'll probably be happy with the resolution, and it does't strike me as a 100% hose job. Maybe a 20% hose job. And ultimately the upside to eBay generally outweighs the downside, at least for me. Think it through. This is a $200 dispute (more or less) on one transaction. If you keep using eBay you will buy and sell thousands of dollars in merchandise and probably be happy with most of those deals.

definition of a pyrrhic victory:

1. OP finds a way to get the case re-opened
2. ebay decides to side with buyer and forces a return for refund
3. seller refunds money, re-lists item as it really is "2008 series 6" etc
4. item sells for higher price.
5. OP has no bike.

<foo>Star Trek Next Gen was way ahead of the Spielmeister, and CSI:Miami wasn't far behind Minority Report. Smartphones are too small to consume media, and tablets/netbooks are too big to stick in your back pocket. When I was growin' up, the stereo amp had to kick out hundreds of Watts and the speakers had to be as big as furniture. TV screens had to be big, and with surround sound - now the consumer doesn't care how bad the sound is or how hard they have to squint to watch a friggin' movie on an airplane. </foo>

Read a book EDIT: An ACTUAL book.

minority report was a Philip K. Dick short story. The movie was, shall we say, somewhat unfaithful.

cool perhaps, but lacking in nearly all of the necessary grey matter the original used. PKD was a master of that, without much need for actual violence. The movie was just a Hollyweird shoot-em-up in comparison.

Yeah, but righteous production design and props. And that's all that matters to those of us who operate in the visual world. You musicians are too friggin cerebral. Relax.

I didn't take the time to read thru every post, but FYI that is a 2009 5-series frame.

Also FYI there was no change in the 5 series from 2009 to 2010, so model year doesn't really matter.
